  1. Sorry but this is making money, it will do fine at the box office. Leo is a consistently successful box office draw, it's had a big marketing budget and it has the look and effects of something that should be on the big screen. I've been saying this for a while but we just put our tickets on sale (releases here on 15th) and we've sold out a showing already. It is selling out screenings in nearby cinemas as well. Maybe it won't turn a profit but it's not going to be some huge bomb like certain people seem to think.

  3. Give Inside Out the #1 spot and you will be redeemed of these awful top-ten movie choices.
  4. I hadn't read about the monopoly controversy, but I was in a shop today and actually saw the monopoly board and was really confused why Rey is not on it. My reasoning was that, given that it's Luke & Vader, and Finn & Kylo, maybe Hasbro had been led to believe Finn would be the most prominent character rather than Rey? Idk how tight control Disney has over merchandise.
  5. Well then you don't know the definition of underperforming. Like you realise 150M is 16x bigger than the previous Star Wars movie... The Force Awakens incredible US performance is largely based on the goodwill, love and nostalgia that many people have for the franchise; and that it's one of, if not THE, biggest known movie franchise. None of this is true for China - the original trilogy didn't get released in China, most people aren't familiar with the films. 150M in China may be PERSONALLY disappointing to you, but that doesn't make it an underperformance. I'm not going to make any predictions became honestly I'm not too knowledgeable about China's box office patterns, but 150M would be a good performance for an apparently fairly unknown brand.
  6. American Sniper is the most interesting and most impressive box office performance of the past year. Way more so than Star Wars. The scale of these SW numbers is incredible but none of it is surprising.
  7. Strange to see a good actor so out of depth in such a shallow role.
  8. 500M+ rogue one predictions you're just setting yourself up for disappointment..
  9. What movie did she watch? It's completely bleak and she has a grizzled, uncomfortable but knowing look on her for the whole film. And yes, @Obi-Wan Telemachos she doesn't die.
  10. sage you don't have to do this to yourself. I didn't like the movie but I'm not gonna pretend that everyone else deep down hates it too.
  11. I take it I'm the only person nominating The Last Witch Hunter for Best Original Screenplay.
  12. Should Armie Hammer in Man From UNCLE be nominated in Actor or Supporting Actor? I mean, although Cavill is clearly the lead, he has just as much to do and screentime is shared fairly evenly I think?
  13. there's a moment in the film where Ben Whishaw says to eddie, "Have you heard the story of the great oak tree? It is said that if you catch its fallen acorn, you will be granted a wish." and all I could hear in my head was, "is it possible to learn this power?"
  14. yeah, rewatching films is great. and every time you watch several movies in a day, you make up for days where you didn't watch anything. I felt like I watched a TON of movies last year, and it was 399, so I managed it. But every so often there were extended periods of like 3 weeks where I'd go without watching a single film. it's a challenge - but hopefully it is rewarding.
  15. not doing any actual predictions for these, but just going off their names and what I know of the film, I'd guess: 13 Hours Ride Along 2 Kung Fu Panda 3 Zootopia Allegiant Batman v Superman The Jungle Book Civil War Neighbors 2(?) Alice 2 X Men Apocalypse TMNT Now You See Me 2 Warcraft Finding Dory Central Intelligence Independence Day Secret Life of Pets Ghostbusters Ice Age Star Trek Beyond Bou5ne Suicide Squad Gambit Inferno Doctor Strange Trolls Fantastic Beasts Moana The Great Wall Rogue One Assassin's Creed That's 32. So no, I guess I don't think it will happen.
  16. they have a plethora of superhero films that will get them through the next 5 years.
