  1. From 2018, the #17 opening weekend was original, the top 16 all non original. Same goes for 2017 too actually.
  2. Where are you from? Le Mans is the most famous motor race, at least in Europe. Most adults will have heard of Le Mans here. (in the UK) As its had a ton of media coverage and also people are aware of the infamous crash which killed 100 odd spectators.
  3. adjusted for inflation: Godzilla 1998 - $261m Godzilla 2014 - $217m Godzilla kotm - $120m King Kong original - unknown King Kong 1976 - $222m King Kong 2005 - $304m Kong Skull Island - $170m
  4. userHN I think you're the one who needs to chill... You keep making posts complaining that everyone hates the lion king even though no one is even talking about the lion king.
  5. Interesting. Le Mans 66 is definitely a better title but I'm guessing Le Mans is not known to Americans very well.
  6. there's a difference between the action being authentic, and realistic. No one thinks Mission Impossible is realistic, in fact it's probably best known for all its silly sci-fi tech stuff like face masks. but the action is terrific because it's all real.
  7. yeah this is second only to how to train your dragon 3 so far in the year for me, I think. Great little flick.
  8. And in Hobbs & Shaw they're literally fighting a supervillain right? Speaking of which, i just searched for the film and realised tickets are already on sale. And midnight showings here. Apparently cinemas have high hopes.
  9. oh i could be mistaken I was under the impression that Bale was the main actor and Matt Damon was more a supporting role. I thought the same goes for Once Upon a time in Hollywood, thought Leo was main character, or at least bigger role than Pitt so if they were campaigning presumably they'd not want to be put forward in same category. I dont really know much about either film. Is it not correct though, that the studios if they're running campaigns would want to put their main actors in different categories?
  10. was he? I know he lost the lawsuit but does that mean he is a fraud? I can believe that he pitched zootopia to Disney before they made it. That sort of stuff happens all the time. I dont think he should be awarded compensation for it but i can believe its true.
  11. the ending is the only part that didn't work for me, the emotional climax of him "redeeming" himself and hugging his child version, just fell completely flat for me and quite awkward.
  12. Godzilla 2 may have to be fudged to 100m in the same way that the previous film was fudged to 200m.
  13. 140/150 would mean a 3x multi, that's impossible given how fan-driven/frontloaded godzillaKOTM is, plus it doesn't exactly have great reception from audiences.
  14. schools have been out all last week. half term holiday is always extremely busy for families going to cinema.
  15. I think Taron has a great chance of a nomination. sorry if this is a dumb question - but why is for example Adam Driver or Antonio Banderas, automatically the obvious choice for best actor nomination? the Banderas film is foreign language so will probably be overlooked. as for The Report i mean its way too far out to get a sense of award chances. it's not like it has some prestige writer/director behind it. Matt Damon would be campaigning for supporting actor with Bale lead actor. Same for Leo/Pitt. Jonathan Pryce in a netflix film, you think that will set the Academy on fire? Taron is good chances despite the release date. imo
  16. i'm currently watching a scene where a man is sitting on a toilet drinking beer and getting a blowjob from a woman who I'm guessing is Jennifer Lawrence character Mysterio or whtever she's called. this is easily the best Xmen I've watched!
  17. if it actually only got $159m revenue then it will have lost money theatrically. Sad Shazam.
  18. just turned on the TV and x men 2 was on. Hugh Jackman driving a Mazda RX-8? And didnt know Brian Cox is in X-Men. he should be in the MCU.
  19. I've only seen DOFP, apocalypse and logan. Don't feel the need to see the previous films though i'll watch dark phoenix on wednesday I guess.
  20. alita is a pretty terrible example because it flopped in USA. unless you are expecting avatar 2 to flop in the domestic market I don't see the relevance. @IronJimbo @JamesCameronScholar It goes below 2 billion, I'll delete my account.
  21. expressions? Ive seen a few people talking about the monsters having expressions. Am I just blind? None of them ever expressed any emotion. apart from possibly the close up of Godzilla being nuked.
