Zathura is a great children's movie but didn't do well. That movie gave him the experience to do a bigger fx movie like Iron Man. Cowboy and Aliens sucked massive balls though.

Both this and Resident evil are guilty pleasure movie franchises for me. Underworld has a cooler mythology and better makeup/cg effects so i rate it higher than RE..which was good till RE3..last 2 were bad..hopefully the final chapter will be much better than those 2

And what makes you think that after changing the title to something generic they will be able to market it better and make it a hit? Denis's movies have had short and simple titles yet nothing has broken out. So I suggest to let the title be as it is. Moreover, it shows respect to the author who wrote the story on which the movie is based on. As for the internet, most of it is full of hypocrites. Short title or not, most movie sites usually get behind certain movies/properties/franchises that will give them views and increase their visitor traffic. 95% is filled with marvel, dc, star wars or well known IP. Many movies that deserve attention dont get the required coverage. But as a studio you can get in touch with the editors or owners of these sites and request them to do the needful in return for some kind of gain.

Why take the easy/generic way? If the studio cuts great trailers/tv spots and the internet talks/hypes it 1/5th as much as they do for their beloved properties then it should be a solid hit.

He needs to compose and sing a song for the movie. That will be epic just like that Tarzan animated film in 1999.

You guys obviously don't read books, do you? No wonder..... Anyways, this movie is based on a short story called "A story of your life" by Ted Chiang and won the Nebulla Award for best novella in 2000. That award is equivalent to an Emmy or Oscar but for Sci-fi and fantasy novels. The team is working on an excellent source material that's why I said this will likely be the best sci-fi/alien invasion movie of this year with the pedigree behind it. I hope they keep the title as it is classy. The other one sounds like typical Hollywood nonsense and a sequel to The Day the earth stood still.

This is the trailer for A MONSTER CALLS. Kinda similar premise, but looks infinitely better. If you keep the Spielberg name aside for a moment and objectively look at the trailers for both, A monster calls without a questions trumps bfg.

Everything else is taking itself seriously or has dark/gritty shades. This is just balls to walls fun times with comedy, action, adventure, cool turtles and villains.

It did somewhere between 9.76-10.09 crore on friday, which is the 3rd biggest opening day of a hollywood movie in India. Easily going to do 35 crore on weekend which is approx $5.26 million. Has a good shot at entering TOP 4 Hollywood blockbusters in India because wom is excellent.

It has opened very well in multiplexes. On par or better than BVS. Since it is a family film and wom is great, it should comfortably beat BVS on opening weekend and total run. Infact, i am sure the evening shows on friday were much better than bvs, so it might beat the opening day numbers of bvs too.
