  1. wow... Episode 8 will drop big which is sad because it most likely will be the best in this new trilogy and I like Rian Johnson's movies. Colin trevorrow, the clever but meh director, his episode 9 will do more than Episode 8 and maybe even come close to TFA as it will be the end of this new trilogy of main star wars films.
  2. I wonder how this will do in India when TFA was such a huge disappointment.
  3. Expected numbers. The marketing was boring and TFA rode on the nostalgia wave just like Jurassic World did to reach those massive numbers both domestically and overseas. This movie does not have that and it is a spinoff, not part of the main trilogy. I am waiting to see how SW8 does compared to SW7.
  4. This and Alien trailer in the same week! Damn. Funny thing is that the trailer will be out before Alien's, which releases 5 months earlier. This movie needs very good marketing to become a hit because no one was really asking for a sequel of a 20+ year old film. Bo record for such sequels is really bad. Tron Legacy numbers would be very good for this.
  5. One thing is confirmed, whenever an oscar bait or big budget movie casts the biggest names or allegedly A list actors, 90% of the time the movie ends up being garbage. Collateral beauty, passengers, the counsellor....list goes on and on.
  6. LET ME REPEAT IT AGAIN, WHEN YOU CAST CHRIS PRATT AND JENNIFER LAWRENCE IN A SCI-FI ROMANCE MOVIE SET IT IN SPACE THEN EVERYONE EXPECTS A MOVIE WITH ROUSING CHEMISTRY AND AMAZING ACTING WITH LOTS OF ROMANCE AND GOOD STORY TO BOOT. REST OF THE STUFF DOES NOT MATTER. THIS MOVIE FAILS TO DO THAT. COOL VISUALS AIN'T GONNA SAVE THIS.
  7. If it was well done sci-fi romance then critics would have lapped it up even if other areas were not strong. But something tells me that this isn't the romantic OMG sci-fi movie which it was billed out to be when it was announced with the hottest actors in hollywood.
  8. I doubt people will be interested in watching another space/sci-fi/fantasy film right after Rogue One. Moreover, one which is getting mixed to negative reviews. We will find out what star power, if any, does Chris Pratt and Jennifer have. Magnificent 7 was a box-office disappointment. When you put Chris+Jennifer together in a blockbuster wannabe then you expect minimum 200M domestically. Anything less won't cut it.
  9. I mean the hardcore genre films. Both those are not sci-fi, visual effects heavy, fantasy, horror type films.
  10. Looks like a fun time at theatres, but that Dubai scene cannot be topped! Also, it looks like a highly amped up version of XXX return of xander cage and the snow sequences of Die Another Day.
  11. Fox going all out on R rated stuff for next year. Only War For the Planet of the Apes is pg-13 blockbuster.
  12. Sigourney Weaver ass crack, alien fucked one of the female crew. If you have watched Roger corman sci-fi movies or European horror movies of the 70s or 80s then most of those had a lot of skin show and gore. This movie will remind you of those latter films. Infact, one of the shots in the the teaser is such a b-film thing.
  13. It has the aesthetics (look and feel) of ALIEN but the relentless action and mayhem of ALIENS. In my book that's good because I prefer ALIENS over ALIEN. But I know many who want this to be straight up horror which it ain't. Frankly, I watched ALIEN recently..I found it goofy/semi porn/b flick. When I was young I was terrified of that movie, but now not at all. ALIENS to me is just a popcorn sci-fi action movie, which I still love.
  14. This movie is in trouble at the boxoffice. Has managed only 4+ million views in 23 hours on the official fox channel on youtube. Interest doesn't seem to be there, but it's better than TF5 for sure. Still....I am not too sure about this doing 150M domestically and 450 OS. Even Valerian managed to do 6+ in 24 hours so this is really bad.
  15. I have heard that this is your typical horror action sci-fi with lots of blood, carnage and violence, but with great production values, which you expect from a Ridley flick. The acting ranges from mediocre-very good. Some scenes will remind you of a B/semi porn horror flick. Not sure which trailer they will be release pg-13 or R or both.
  16. I can see it doing 200+ million domestically and another 350+ OS. A musical with serious Oscar buzz is a force to be reckoned with.
  17. William Friedkin says that Damien Chazelle is the future of american cinema and that he will be a major force in shaping it. http://theplaylist.net/william-friedkin-says-la-la-land-director-damien-chazelle-future-american-cinema-20161208/ I concur. Whiplash and La La Land proves that he is a genuine talent unlike 1 hit wonders and/or overrated filmmakers taking on franchises and making mostly safe films.
