  1. Actually, when is the next scheduled IMAX engagement? A long or short run in IMAX could affect RN's legs.
  2. While M:I-RN doesn't have the 3D advantage, it is running in many PLF auditoriums and IMAX. $50 million seems to be where it's heading, which is above early tracking and Paramount's expectations. With good WOM and legs, RN can head northwards of $175 million.
  3. 1. SPECTRE 2. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. 3. The Hateful Eight 4. Bridge of Spies 5. Straight Outta Compton 6. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice 7. Star Wars: The Force Awakens 8. The Walk 9. The Martian 10. Deadpool
  4. I expect lots of walkup business for M:I-GN this weekend. Cruise's fanbase now skews older and less likely to attend Thursday previews. I'm seeing it in Atmos sound later today.
  5. I'm still flabbergasted that Skyfall made a billion. Such a crazy unprecedented jump in popularity for Bond. I don't think it will happen again, but I've been so very very wrong before. I want to live in the Bondmania Renaissance.
  6. The only thing I remember anyone talking about pertaining to Vacation is Chris Hemsworth's fake penis. Can't say I'm that surprised that it's performing poorly. There seem to be a lot of movies coming out this summer that would have been better suited for different dates on the release calendar.
  7. There's your answer. That and I have a hunch that internet critics disliked the use of their childhood nostalgia to sell a Sandler vehicle.
  8. Because it's the last Phase 2 movie? They should have made two comparisons, with the second comparing it to other solo MCU introductions (Thor1, Hulk, IM, and Cap1). That way, we have both a list of all Phase 2 movies and all the solo movies on two lists.
  9. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli hold control over the rights to the Bond franchise. They could move to a different studio if the deal was lucrative enough. Staying with Sony is up in the air with Amy Pascal's ousting.
  10. Females who spontaneously change their sex when the population is depleted. I'm assuming B.D. Wong fixed that glitch in Jurassic World.
  11. I think it has something to do with how much one enjoys Rudd's character growth in the film and the extensive amount of time building up to the climactic showdowns. The climax I thought was very good, but the buildup left a lot to be desired.
  12. I think I'm more hyped for SPECTRE than for any other Bond film. Quantum of Solace comes close, though.
  13. We've already had a few years of smaller movies trying platform releases, failing to find an audience, and subsequently going to VOD or streaming.
  14. I remember that brief period of time where e-readers were hot shit. They were Palm Pilot levels of everywhere before tablets smushed them into irrelevance.
  15. With all the drops this week, TG is probably at $1.21 million. I wouldn't be surprised if MM was the same or better.
  16. In other minor news, San Andreas passed Mad Max: Fury Road to be WB's highest grosser this summer.
  17. 1. SPECTRE 2. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. 3. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation 4. The Hateful Eight 5. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice 6. Straight Outta Compton 7. Deadpool 8. Bridge of Spies 9. Captain America: Civil War 10. X-Men: Apocalypse
  18. DRAAGOOOOOOOOOO! Now I want to lift weights, run, and punch Russians.
  19. I didn't realize how impressive Universal's billion dollar summer was until I ran some numbers. -A studio running a billion dollars during the summer calendar has never happened before. -The studios that had done it with adjusted ticket prices had massive summers in hot periods (Uni 1982, Sony 1997, Sony 2002, Disney 2003, Fox 2005). -The summer is halfway over, with another two Universal releases on the slate and the remaining runs of Minions and JW generating at least $250 million more. I don't see anyone topping what Universal has done this summer. EDIT: Oh, and if Ant-Man is a big hit, we will go from never having one to having 2 in the same summer. Disney needs only another $250 million.
  20. Universal grossed over a billion dollars just in the summer season. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/seasonal/?view=calendargross&yr=2015&season=Summer&sort=gross&order=DESC&studio=universal.htm Next closest is Disney, with $849 million and WB with $461 million.
  21. Paramount and Sony have combined for a lower gross this year than Jurassic World.
