  1. So Triple 9's done about 1.6M since it's OW. Yup, that sure didn't pan out well. EDIT: Wow, ETE is in a worse position. Damn, they bombed. Oh well. Pretty average Wednesday, all things considered. Deadpool's hold is though.
  2. ZOOTOPIA - For now, ~90.4 (IO debut numbers), but it could go higher London Has Fallen - 22.4 Whiskey Tango Foxtrot - 12.1 Zootopia is a (not quite as perfect as Deadpool but still) perfect storm of buzz, reviews and marketing. W/all the strong OS numbers and the general interest in the trailers, plus the non-existant competition, it has a serious shot at doing big numbers.
  3. Wow, biggest drop this WE was 44%. Not sure if an indicator of a lot of bombs in the past few weeks, or just a stronger number of people attending movies atm. The Witch's drop is especially impressive, didn't think it could've possibly outdone a >50% one w/the poor WOM going. Maybe audiences learned to accept it for what it is. KFP3 with another epic drop as well. Shame that Po's run is about to come to a furry-ous finale Spectre still not at $200M It's GOTTA make it there by next week, right? RIGHT?!
  4. Yeah, that's true. The drops will be pretty damn spikey, w/AT LEAST a 60-65% drop the 2nd weekend, given the debut of Allegiant and loss of IMAX screens. But oh well, a $40M OW would mean quadrupling its budget (I agree that 10M is a pretty accurate budget for this), so the profit's already there. Any news on tracking?
  5. Did it really? Considering the supposedly heavy sci-fi presence, I think there's gotta be a little more than 5M there. Don't forget the 1st Cloverfield cost 25M to make, despite the found footage style. Yeah, there was a lot of destruction, but even still, it felt relatively low budget (at least in comparision w/the average monster movie). 10CL probably won't cost anywhere near as much as that, but I still find 5M to be suspect.
  6. No, it will not be glorious at all. Cause I say so. I fucking say so, Goddammit..... I don't want this movie to bomb
  7. What about The Witch? Did it not have any theatres playing it on Tuesday? Deadpool at nearly $250M DOM in under 3 weeks. Crazy stuff. The Mermaid also doing alright for itself, $550-600M are a given at this point. Anomalisa deserves WAY more, though.
  8. Deadpool - $36.5M Gods Of Egypt - $13.4M Eddie The Eagle - $11.6M Kung Fu Panda 3 - $9.6M Triple 9 - $9.2M Risen - $8.5M The Witch - $7.2M How To Be Single - $5.1M Race - $4.3M Star Wars: The Force Awakens - $2.7M
  9. I agree w/that. I don't care if there's a giant lizard crushing bunkers w/its footsteps or not; it would be extra cool to see, but if that ain't there, I won't mind it. I just wanna see a good psychological thriller, good performances by a bunch of good actors, and some unexpected twists and turns given the mystery box nature of the film. With that in mind, I'm not exactly sure what will the GA think about this. I've read many YT comments on trailers and TV spots that had me like: "Wow, these people are so getting prepared for disappointment", since their mindset is that, given it carries the name 'Cloverfield' and is supposedly (never confirmed to be) a sequel to it, it HAS to have monsters all the way through. That kinda worries me for the WOM prospects.
  10. Holy shit, that's fantastic for The Witch. Race doing solid business too. Risen will be the Zoolander 2 of the weekend it seems... damn, this prediction thing is getting weirder by the day . But yeah, The Witch tho. After so many years of seeing critically acclaimed horror movies not do excellent business (like It Follows or The Babadook) in favor of the shitty ones (like Ouija or the PA movies), it's refreshing to see this happen. If it ends up being the top grosser of the debutants and does well over $10M, it'll be the 2nd big time unexpected breakout of February, which is shaping up to being one of the most exciting box office months in years.
  11. I don't know, probably the way the action seems to be shot. Again, it's a very weird thing that got to me, it reminded me of him. What can you do? Yeah, and this thing is getting a one week only IMAX release on top of that. I guess that'll heavily depend on how many monsters we'll get to see in the film.
  12. So when will Rth drop the Thursday bombshell on us mortals?
  13. Deadpool - 63M Risen - 18M Kung Fu Panda 3 - 15.1M Race - 12.3M How To Be Single - 9.4M The Witch - 7.1M The Revenant - 5.9M Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 5M Zoolander 2 - 4.1M Hail, Caesar - 2.9M
  14. I say the next three to make it to a $40M OW are Zootopia, 10 Cloverfield Lane and, of course, BVS. Atm, here's how I'd give it: Zootopia: 50.5M Cloverfield: 41M BVS: 185M
  15. Anyone else getting a Paul Greengrass vibe in the trailers/spot? Maybe I'm just a lunatic, but everything I've seen about the direction in this movie reminds me of Greengrass. Anyways, this looks awesome so far. John Goodman is the man and Mary Liz The 1st Cloverfield was a refreshing movie, to say the least about how I'd describe it. I enjoyed it enough. I'm getting the sensation that this could be the Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes of 2016, in the vein of how the trailers don't tell us shit about how the movie really is twists and turns wise. Hell, that was directed by Matt Reeves, who also directed Cloverfield, so yeah . Would really love it if this movie turned kick-ass and it'd become the next breakout hit of the year after Deadpool. Though, unfortunely, this does not benefit of an all time campaign or absolutely killer buzz going in, at least for the moment. I predict a $41M OW right now, pretty much in the same range as the original. But more than likely, I'll change my mind later.
  16. KEWL. Doubt it'll be as awesome as Sam Jack, but ehh, whatever. Great actress nonetheless. Though as I far as I'm concerned, I wanna see myself more Roxy. Like, A LOT more. And not just because she's a totally sexy badass or anything.
  17. Who would've thunk about a week ago that the $65M, which a bunch of people predicted would be the 3-day, possibly 4-day OW for Deadpool, would wind up being a realistic 2nd weekend ~50% drop? Madness. Amazing number for a normal Tuesday. Now if Wednesday performs w/10M too... that will be the point of no more words w/the power to describe how insane this whole thing is.
  18. Apparently, The Wolverine II/III/WHATEVER will indeed have an R-rating, it seems. THE DEADPOOL EFFECT IS ON FULL FORCE NOW IN HOLLYWOOD!
  19. Self-explanatory title. Which are your favorite performances ever in the MCU? We'll do it in two different lists: movies and TV (because really, we can't compare the two things quite the same way, now can we?). NOTE: For the movies list, choose only one movie/performance per actor, since actors may have varying performance qualities in every movie they are, and the ones who have good ones don't need to fill a ton of spots on the list. MOVIES: Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man Tom Hiddleston, Thor: The Dark World Bradley Cooper, Guardians Of The Galaxy Mark Ruffalo, The Avengers Chris Evans, Captain America: The Winter Soldier Michael Douglas, Ant-Man Chris Hemsworth, Thor James Spader, Avengers: Age Of Ultron Chris Pratt, Guardians Of The Galaxy Scarlett Johansson, Avengers: Age Of Ultron TELEVISION: David Tennant, Jessica Jones Vincent D'Onofrio, Daredevil Hayley Atwell, Agent Carter Charlie Cox, Daredevil Ian De Caestecker, Agents Of SHIELD Elizabeth Henstridge, Agents Of SHIELD Krysten Ritter, Jessica Jones Rosario Dawson, Daredevil Mike Colter, Jessica Jones Brett Dalton, Agents Of SHIELD
  20. I actually kinda like Illumination's animation style, it brings it a certain grit and realistic sense to it, and not in the "Good Dinosaur" type way where the realism present in the background was just annoying and odd, but rather it feels... sophisticated, like something out of an ultra HD TV set, if you get what you mean. It's hard to explain. This movie though... I don't know what to think. I'm excited as hell for Pets, I think that could be awesome (Toy Story rip-off? Yes, but why is ripping off one of the greatest movies of all time a bad thing?), but this just looks childish and stupid. Are all these animated movies set in fucking Zootopia or something? I did laugh at the bunnies part though. WARNING BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING: I'M NOT A FURRY. I JUST SAID THAT I FOUND THAT PART FUNNY.
  21. A few weeks ago, I said $150M was Deadpool's top DOM range in a very positive prediction. It did that in 4 days. All it takes is Fox announcing Fant4stic 2 and that being the best superhero movie since The Dark Knight, and the most succesful since The Avengers, for Hell to officially freeze.
  22. Soooo.... when are we getting those sweet Sunday updates? *inb4 somehow Deadpool raises its number to $136M or more*
  23. I think he meant that he purposefully wasn't looking at Reynolds' front sack (and tbh, as a fellow Portuguese and man of good common sense, I can't blame him
