Saw this in Toronto and it is legitimately good. Janney and Robbie are Oscar nomination shoe ins, but the guy who plays Shawn Eckhardt steals the show. Stan is great as well.

Yeah, releasing a Christmas movie aimed at females with kids the day after Halloween might be the dumbest fucking strategy I have heard of in a long time. Not only is your target demo still recovering from Halloween and will then be focused on Thanksgiving and not even thinking of Christmas, but you also guarantee your movie crashes and burns and is mostly out of theaters a full month before the subject matter the movie is based on happens. I put earlier in the thread when Molly's Game abandoned 11/22 they should have moved it there. It would have gone counter programming to Justice League and Coco and would have given it a clean run leading into 12/15 and likely would have held screens for Christmas. Now it will essentially be done by 12/1 in everywhere but the biggest multiplexes.

All of those movies came out 14 - 25+ years ago in a completely different era when movies ran longer. Releasing a movie like this on Nov. 1st in 2017 is not a good move.

STX shit the bed on this. The second they moved Molly's Game they should have moved this to Nov. 22nd and it would have run for nearly a month strong into the Christmas season. Now it will be tanked and done before Thanksgiving is over. Brilliant.

He is a fucking idiot. Warner Bros. isn't pulling the movie early, it isn't performing to certain levels so theaters can drop it for other content. The guy doesn't understand how theater exhibition works.

They were showing a bunch of footage all the way back in March. It was supposedly pretty much done back then.

$6.75m for Blade Runner 2049 on Saturday so right near $11m so far. Should hit $15m+ for the weekend. That is a lot more encouraging than $13.6m

It's fantastic. I also know someone who saw an early cut way back in May I think and they said it was great back then. Was glad to see that it turned out even better than I could have hoped.
