  1. Of course they're doing this list to promote The Dark Tower. But they didn't have to do it this way, it's just a joke at this point. The name of the list is literally "Top-Rated", I'd say that's exactly what they're implying -- that The Dark Tower is Top-Rated... The Dark Tower isn't top-rated, it ain't even in the same ballpark as those other movies on the list. Name it anything else and it's fine. But "Top-Rated" is something that's objectively calculable, it's a number, and The Dark Tower shouldn't be on this list, especially when all those other movies have an 8+ rating on IDMb.
  2. IMDb just did a "Top-Rated Books-to-Big-Screen movies" list, as ranked by IMDb users, which is ranked fine for 53/54 titles... Until of course they put The Dark Tower at #1, for literally no valid reason except the Sony Check which probably passed yesterday Top-Rated my ass. The Dark Tower is 6/10 already on IDMb, which is horrendous for a new movie. Edit: Apparently The Dark Tower is higher rated than Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather, and LOTR. Good to know IMDb!
  3. Just when Apes was stabilizing...
  4. Wow, to think Jing Wu (Jacky Wu) was once an underrated martial artist that only martial arts fans knew... Now he's directed and starred in possibly the biggest Chinese movie of all-time! For those who are curious, you can witness his amazing skills in the following clip (and also note how incredible Donnie Yen is): Good for him! I'll be watching it when it arrives in Canada.
  5. I'm really curious about watching Wolf Warriors 2, Jing Wu is an amazing martial artist and he's done some great work alongside Donnie Yen and other titans in Chinese movies. This is him in the director's chair and, I think, main character? Hopefully the fight scenes are good!
  6. Except that's for Friday openers and $50M+ openers only. I think you let the headlines get into your head Batman (1989) had a 6.2 multi and it ain't even the leggiest of them all so yeah... WW ain't ever getting close to that. Still mighty impressive, but as baumer so often says -- let's not suck each other's dicks yet
  7. Someone's trying to pass for Tele ... You will not fool me! . . . . I got fooled for 3 straight pages
  8. Completely agree. You nailed what I thought about the characters, and the movie in general. It had its flaws, but damn did it have heart. And Fifth Element has even more heart than this. Watch it if you haven't already Additionally, I thought that (spoilers for villain) I truly am speechless toward the Cara Delevingne backlash on the Internet though. I thought she was great. Not incredible, but she did a good job.
  9. Jurassic World did $208M out of absolute nowhere Maybe not $250M since Star Wars might do it, but a $300M OW for example, it could be from a movie completely out of left field
  10. Agreed. Lord of the Rings, The Matrix though...? What the hell did he watch? Certainly not Valerian. And no, 5 seconds of slow-mo doesn't qualify your movie as being inspired by The Matrix. If that was the case, Wonder Woman would be a direct sequel to The Matrix Revolutions
  11. I honestly have no idea why people thought the chemistry between Valerian and Laureline sucked. I thought it was great
  12. SMH's drops are average and completely uneventful. The total is good though, don't get me wrong. It's the run that's overly boring to follow.
  13. I hereby declare Spider-Man: Homecoming the most outstandingly average run of the summer
  14. Spider-Man will drop at least 10% today as well, what's with all those movies opening edit: nevermind, had issue but staff already aware
