  1. Avengers: Infinity War June 2, 7:10 PM Regal Mayfaire Stadium 16 Previews Crazy Rich Asians promo Replicas Mission: Impossible - Fallout Venom Ocean's Eight The Incredibles 2 (laughs) Plenty of laughing throughout. People were crying at the end.
  2. I've just had a thought. Almost everyone who saw A Quiet Place saw Hereditary's trailer in the theater, right? How much would that affect the gross? Do you think the horror audience that saw A Quiet Place would have found Hereditary interesting enough to want to see it?
  3. Now that I think about it, it makes sense for this film's trailer to debut close to Fallen Kingdom. A lot of people will be seeing that film, and that'll make sure the trailer is shown to them.
  4. I'd believe it. Reception is growing. A film enthusiast friend of mine also went to see it tonight; it must really be getting exposure.
  5. What WrathOfHan said. They're sort of just beginning to jump into the wide release game and I have to say I'm rooting for them.
  6. It's definitely time for the promotion to start -- the trailer will ending up debuting a little less than three months before its release, and I'd say that's fine for the kind of release that it is.
  7. I'm excited to see how this film looks; I'm really optimistic and I believe that surprises can come out of nowhere... will this be one such surprise?
  8. Well, I guess Action Point is what happens when a film is not efficiently advertised. If I have to have the thought come to me in which I consider whether or not people know that a film is coming out, then yeah, the film is in a bit of trouble. I'm rooting for Adrift to do as well as it can. Hopefully it pulls through in the wake of Solo's disappointing gross. I think Upgrade will do a little better than people think based on its positive reception. I'm thinking that'll push it above $3M.
  9. This is the new poster that I found on Box Office Mojo and IMDb. The poster invokes a similar vibe to previous hits like Fireproof and War Room, and I absolutely believe that this film can be a hit just like those... if it's competently made.
  10. This is a big move. I hope it works out for the best. It'd be unexpected and awesome to see it gain awards traction because of the new date but I doubt it.
  11. Infinity War is a masterwork, but I wouldn't say it's Best Picture material just yet. Same with Black Panther. Great films in their own right, but we need to wait and see how good the Oscar candidates will be. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts those films will tell more important stories in the long run.
  12. 1. Hereditary 2. Ocean's Eight 3. Hotel Artemis 4. Won't You Be My Neighbor? 5. The Incredibles 2 6. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom 7. Sicario: Day of the Soldado 8. Ant-Man and The Wasp 9. Sorry to Bother You 10. Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot
  13. I'm sure A24 has a fanbase that goes to their acclaimed, high-profile releases, but I wonder if First Reformed might eat into a small sliver of Hereditary's gross because of how well it's doing in its platform release. Am I reading to much into it? I probably am.
  14. I don't think we have to worry about this film's quality with J.A. Bayona in the director's chair. That's my take.
  15. This article also has information about a petition to stop the release of this film. The petition involves the father of the girl that was attacked by two of her friends who were dedicated believers of the Slenderman internet creepypasta. The petition has over 19,000 signatures, less than 1,000 away from its goal (which is 20,000). I've posted the link below. https://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/820/804/773/
  16. I'm willing to bet dollars to doughnuts Sony will move their own film, Searching, to that date. It would win the weekend in a heartbeat (at least in terms of new releases), and it would separate it from the similarly-filmed Unfriended: Dark Web.
  17. I'll go ahead and say it. I can probably squeeze my pointer finger and thumb together to help explain how close I was to making a thread that would've had Adrift topping its debut weekend over Solo's second weekend. But I really don't think it can break out quite that much, not with the reviews it's getting. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised and see Adrift put up a good fight; I can see this film catching the interest of quite a few moviegoers.
  18. I didn't realize this was from the director of Taken. I'll keep my eye on this one!
  19. Solo: A Star Wars Story May 28th, 3:00 PM, 90-95% full Pointe Theater 14, Wilmington, NC Many of the audience members were children and teenagers. The theater was so jam-packed that me and my dad had to sit separately. Trailers Bohemian Rapsody (some kids started dancing to the Queens music; it was really cute) Mowgli (murmurs) Skyscraper (murmurs) Adrift (significant audience engagement) Ant-Man and The Wasp (large amounts of laughter) Laughs at appropriate moments. Gasps at appropriate moments, including the ending's big reveal. Applause at the end, which surprised me. The big takeaway, to me, is that the film's soft debut apparently doesn't mean the general audience is ceasing to like the brand.
  20. If it isn't too late to place a guess for the #1 fight sequence, my guess is that it is the fight between Jen Yu and Yu Shu Lien from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Final answer.
