It overlooks some of the critics awards that Kubo won, but those don't predict Oscar wins anyways. And Zootopia, as we know, won plenty of critics kudos as well.

The matter of unethical non-hiring agreements is resolved, and the artists are further compensated for the billions they made for Disney.
TBH, the main reason I appreciate this movie is that I love the characters so much. That, and I think there are some genuinely great filmmaking moments in the movie. I just brush aside any flaws I notice.
I'm not sure if the Sebastian character changes like you think he does. Yes, he sometimes fails at getting what he wants, but I never thought his attitude about art changed.
The movie is not bad because of this issue. It's just a point of discussion.
Yes, I know what the John Legend character said. It doesn't mean that it's the theme of the movie.
How so? "Jazz is dying. I won't let it die".
How is that not "saving Jazz"? Regardless if you're super-offended by it, it seems to be a fair enough interpretation of his ambition.
"Sebastian isn't trying to save Jazz, geez guys!"
Oh really? Then why does he lament the dying of the artform while trying to open a jazz club of his own?
It's not a ridiculous interpretation, come on now.
I actually love eye-candy, but my expectations were out of wack here.
You know, after I saw some snobs praise Kubo, I thought it would be something extraordinary.
8 minutes in, we get an obnoxious old lady as comic relief. WTF, I thought this movie was supposed to be different, snobs!
