  1. I read about the context of that and I sympathize with her. Don't see how asking for a number in those circumstances was warranted at all.
  2. Cavill's tripping all over himself in that interview. All the people for whom the biggest takeaway from MeToo is "but what about flirting?!?" have been ridiculous from day one.
  3. Watched the first two Hotel Transylvania movies before I'm gonna review the new one. Well, at least there's one character in there I can identify with
  4. Great, actually insightful and even-keeled review of Day of the Soldado from one Mexican viewer. Recommended specifically to those who rushed to condemn the entire thing for being "Trump's new favorite movie!!" or whatever their favorite phrase was. http://www.the-solute.com/watching-sicario-day-of-the-soldado-south-of-the-border-a-review-by-alberto-villaescusarico/
  5. Rewatched Burning while it was still around. Still accomplished and all but less exciting the second time tbh.
  6. Shame about that first part. Hope things start looking up.
  7. Panned is a strong word, I think. The uncut 181-minute version was released initially and the reviews for it were out of this world, it was weeks later when exhibitors complained that they couldn't cram enough showings into a day that Jack Warner decided to take an axe to it. Critics presumably knew what the deal was, the public definitely must have felt cheated. The most despicable part of the whole thing is that WB didn't even care to put those cut 27 minutes into their vaults for posterity or anything, or preserve the master print in its original length. They just instructed theaters to destroy it. Thank god not all of them did and we at least got ~20 minutes of footage and all the audio restored. I still hope the complete version will resurface someday, there've been rumblings that it exists in a private collection. It's an incredible movie, if not in my top 10 of all time then just outside.
  8. The second weekend of December probably has a bad reputation more because The Golden Compass, The Day the Earth Stood Still and Exodus all bombed there. But they collapsed quickly not 100% because of the competition but in large part because they sucked. If Aquaman is actually good it wouldn't have to worry as much. If it's bad, the word will quickly spread and it'll get suffocated where it is anyway. Anyway, now that MPR is no longer opening on the 25th I think there's no way at least one movie doesn't get pushed back to that date.
  9. They won't lose many more screens than an early November release does by Thanksgiving. They'll still be around. And they can make more money in the first week by capitalizing on the empty marketplace.
  10. December 7: Aquaman and Holmes & Watson December 14: Mortal Engines and Spider-Verse December 19-21: Mary Poppins, Alita December 25: Bumblebee, Welcome to Marwen Pay me Hollywood.
  11. No it's not. November 30 is, that's the post-Thanksgiving weekend. December 7 is fine. I can understand studios hesitating to release a movie on that weekend when they had to face Star Wars a week later, but this year is not gonna have that problem, and if they put something big there (like Aquaman) they can get a nice headstart on the season.
  12. Move something to December 7. There's literally nothing apart from some Global Road drama coming out between November 21 and December 14, it's ridiculous.
  13. Nothing was actually stopping this from being better than the reviews indicate it is. Die Hard is also "this kind of movie" and it's awesome.
  14. I miss 2013-2015 when it looked like Isaac could end up being the best actor of the decade.
  15. I had a dream that I watched a movie that began like a Terrence Malick film and ended like The Matrix or Inception but set on a train. Wish I could remember details.
  16. Granted we do live in a world where every other movie is made by Steven Soderbergh and if he were behind this he'd still be gearing up for the shoot with the same release date.
  17. Don't you get how mindblowing it is that a movie that'll probably premiere at the festivals two months from now is ALREADY FINISHED?
