  1. Having seen mother there's no doubt in my mind that Lawrence is out. It's not even a "great performance in a difficult film" kind of deal, the role itself is just too limited. Same with Pfeiffer.
  2. It looks like genuine effort went into choosing the single least attractive haircut possible there.
  3. If it opens immediately wide, sure. They should at least scrap the platform release with the average at best reviews.
  4. Guess I'll have to wait till the full trailer to find out if Lawrence is another casualty of the Russian Accent in this.
  5. yes, the NY/LA limited launch of this prestige Oscar contender is going to really suffer from the third weekend of a Pixar movie.
  6. didn't quite love this but it sure is singular. Third act is a lot of fun if you're prepared to roll with certain things (and by that point I think the film makes fairly clear what it's doing so that shouldn't be hard). I predict that the GA won't care for it and the Academy will politely ignore it. Certainly can't see any of the actors getting nominated. No, not even Pfeiffer.
  7. People don't dislike long movies. They dislike badly-paced movies, and there aren't a lot of action flicks out there that were 140+ minutes long and *not* bloated as shit.
  8. It's only Gerwig's debut as a director and more importantly her work doesn't look at all complex or flashy. Always remember with rare exceptions it's not best directing it's most directing.
  9. I got that first trailer half a dozen times over the past few months and it looks (and more importantly sounds) like death. Self-aware humor at its most insufferable. And I liked both previous Lego movies.
  10. I'd say Chalamet is just about locked too with so little competition. He could get Amy Adams'd by someone we're not counting on but in that case we won't see it coming till the nomination day anyway.

  12. Looks nice. A bunch of those moments are like Ronan doing a Greta Gerwig impression which is a little disorienting but fun. Congrats to Chalamet on getting to fuck both Armie Hammer and Ronan in movies this year.
  13. 2002 was kind of a bloodbath between him, Nicholson, Cage and Brody. This year looks comparatively barren, for now.
  14. Jackie Brown, Face/Off, Con Air, Breakdown, The Game, Lost Highway, Happy Together
  15. I'm not even sure Audra and Beverly's husband are needed for this. The former because I feel like they're better off just focusing on The Losers.
  16. Sicario's score is one of the best of the past few years. I like Zimmer but he is a boring as hell choice for this. Then again I still don't understand why they never even bothered to ask Vangelis if he wanted to do this, he's still alive and active.
