  2. If Spidey was over 250 by the end of its third weekend I'm sure it would have gotten to low 300s even with a packed August.
  3. Dig the unshowy unbroken shot from 0:14 to 1:00. Things like that are a breath of fresh air amidst LOOK-AT-ME long takes on one side and manic editing on the other.
  4. pretty sure Spidey's done. Sony figured there's no money in it anymore.

  6. Hahahahahah. I'm sure he's only putting it out in 600 theaters because it's such a smart film for adults and he only wants a special audience to recognize the talent and wit, too.
  7. It's weird that this is so far away since production's about to wrap up. Make it a counterprogramming summer release or something.
  8. between Chandler, Whigham and Bernthal this is bringing together all the major current "that guy" actors
  9. I'm just glad that Bonnie Aarons is basically getting a starring vehicle with this.
  10. Few things signal that a horror franchise has given up as clearly as the first weekend of January release date.
  11. I'd part ways with you there, the worldbuilding in John Wick 2 is a big reason why I prefer it over the first. The story is still as straightforward as it gets though, unlike Blonde which needlessly trips all over itself.
  12. John Wick recognized that its story needed to be as simple and direct as possible. AB is way too drunk on its own style and dopey sense of cool to actually make anyone care about what's going on, its lukewarm WOM doesn't surprise me one bit.

  14. Tron Legacy and Fury Road were both 30-years-later follow-ups to cult sci-fi classics and both opened in mid-40s, so they're ideal targets for Blade Runner as far as OW.
  15. Oh yeah. I saw this awhile back. Wanted to like it. Lovely opening scene but the structure is a mess, and all the romantic/flirty dialogue... kill it with fire. Shame too because that kind of dynamic is all too rare in blockbusters these days (as are equal couples as protagonists) and it would be very entertaining in the right hands, but at least half the time Dehaan and Delevingne opened their mouths I wanted to shrink into my seat and die.
  16. Wind River at best will stay flat next weekend. It's not as if it's some kind of WOM monster, its PTA has been seriously dropping each week. Hitman's Bodyguard will remain #1 with about $7m (three-day).
  17. You got Chinatown and The Innocents, Ethan got Before Sunrise and American Honey... broken clock, etc. Also Ethan's pretty young there's still a chance he can be saved
