  2. It'd also be pretty distracting. This isn't Boardwalk Empire. Draper dying in the end seems far too obvious to me.

  4. Not a fan of the happy ending at all, but for most of its runtime it's a smart and intense movie with one of the most interesting and fully realized visions of a near future in all sci-fi cinema. Spielberg's at the top of his game as an action director.
  5. It's alright. Same hold as Up, but 5% worse than SWATH's Monday hold.
  6. I've been told by a friend that because Top Film Distribution is a Kiev-based company, they are being refused distribution rights in Russia. Hence the delays. I don't know if it's true, but it sounds logical (and disgusting) enough for the environment we're currently in.
  7. I don't think it's that hard to get at least 7k points here, which is more than you get for abstaining. Because we're dealing with percentages, the bigger the gross of the previous film, the better your chances. Take TF4. Let's say you predict it to finish with 85% of TF3 which would put the gross at 299.5m. This means you get 7k as long as the movie makes between 75% and 95% of TF3, aka between 264.3m and 334.7m. You really think you can't predict a 70 million range for TF4?
  8. The Grand Seduction opened to $323,743 in 94 theaters, placing #17
  9. Rich, fascinating and gorgeous-looking, but I didn't particularly connect with it emotionally save for a few moments. Riva does almost all of the heavy lifting while the main male character hardly left any impression on me. There were times when just the flow of images worked so beautifully that I felt distracted by the narration and almost wished it hadn't been there, even though it presents a lot of the themes in the film. Definitely a film to watch more than once. Not going to grade it yet, but it's an essential viewing for sure.
  10. Or how they failed to award Ennio Morricone even while nominating him 4 times. He is this category's Stanley Kubrick / Peter O'Toole. I'll always stand up for TSN though. Reznor & Ross should have won a second one for TGWTDT, too.
  11. It's 7 AM here and I've slept for two hours and I feel like I'm gonna either abstain or go for all 6.
  12. Yeah The Lego Movie is easily more of a BO story than The Other Woman, and God's Not Dead is more of a story than Heaven Is for Real.
  13. Two things to consider: the original X-Men had a noticeably worse 57% drop, and X2 was at the time the fourth biggest opener in history. The 53% drop might look bad compared to Spider-Man's 37% hold a year earlier, but that film was a phenomenon that X2 could never have been.
  14. I said this before, but X2's legs got destroyed by Matrix Reloaded. Its 53% second weekend drop wasn't bad at all.
  15. Maleficent has toxic WOM? Doesn't seem like it. I feel like it should clear 180 at least.
  16. I'm afraid that from now on, every time I see DeHaan in a movie, I'll want to punch him in the face. And I actually liked the guy in every film I saw him in. (No, TASM2 is not among those)
  17. Der Siebente Kontinent - excellent Amour - good The White Ribbon, Benny's Video - insufferable
