That’s fair. Still not 99% sure it’ll go under Black Adams sans China, but it does really look that way, which is all kinds of crazy even knowing all the good reasons for that. Oh well, this movie was never getting a sequel anyway, so as long as it is as fun as the first one, at least I’ll have another movie to like out of it.

The Box Office Buzz, Tracking, and Pre-Sale Thread
Arlborn replied to Shawn Robbins's topic in Box Office Discussion
That's quite a range for Migration. 250M? That'd be great. -
This said teens went to see the hunger games prequel, is that true? I’d think most of the audience would be millennials fans of the franchise. So, just keep digging that hole then? I see This is so wrong, I don’t even know where to start. To be honest, I do; Disney representation is actuality shit, and this “culture war” wasn’t created by liberals at all and is just something fake created to divide people. Stop paying attention to that crap. Disney just wants money, they’ll go where the wind blows. They’ve just been doing it wrong lately, too many sequels and remakes and old franchises coming one after another, they obviously need to refresh their catalog but Iger has too much aversion to taking risks on new stuff.

Was it though? TLM made 75M more WW and, more crucially, it has made (basically) 300M DOM instead of 155M. And studios still profit a lot more from domestic gross than international gross, right? All in all they both made money IMO, even if perhaps only after their run. Plus kids movies like that will continue making money after the theatrical run for a long time.

Yup, fuck Iger and everyone surrounding him, they burned bridges left and right, no wonder their movies have been feeling creatively stale lately, they drove away a lot of the creativity from their studio. This is so, so bad for Wish. It's a pity they couldn't nail it, I quite like the songs (as far as Disney songs being played dozens of times every day in my household go) and I thought Chris Pine as a villain looked really fun. The man can't catch a break. Ps: Fuck yeah Hunger Games

So, I have a couple of daughters, and let me tell you something, I have memorized every single line of every single Frozen 1 and Frozen 2 song by now... Yeah, it's Frozen and Moana everywhere, 100% the most famous princess movies with young girls, and it's definitely not only in the USA. There you go

I don’t agree with everything on a personal level, but here are what seem to be the main conclusions around here: - Disney+(fatigue, feels like homework having to watch so many TV shows to get fully caught up), - 2 main characters that were TV characters, - Captain Marvel herself not being a character that attracts many people - Endgame feeling like an ending to many people, - the big bad of this phase sucking(Kang), -Ant-Man 3 deflating hype - Thor 4 feeling like a parody for many people and devaluing the brand, - this phase feeling directionless, - MCU not feeling the same without Iron Man and/or Captain America, - New superheroes in general just not hitting in the same way, - Too many new superheroes and too little time spent on them, - COVID changing habits and making people more demanding, - Main audience for MCU getting older while younger audiences aren’t being pulled, - Weaker scripts Etc etc etc Or, as I like to call it, death by a thousand cuts. Some of those being bigger, some smaller, but it all added up.

Star Wars already made a change this year as you pointed out. It’s actually a huge internal change from what I understood; Filoni literally has full creative control of everything Star Wars right now. 2024 won’t change much of anything for MCU as they only have Deadpool coming out and that’s a sure hit, so you are right that 2025 is a key year. Still, surely they give him until the next Avengers movie comes out? I really don’t see any possibility of a Feige exit before that. Similarly, Jennifer Lee stays on next year I guess because IO2 is a sure hit as well. might stay as Zootopia will do well I guess? Probably? But she’s probably definitely on shakier ground than the rest.

I can agree with that being a growing sentiment about Disney lately, especially MCU. The whole “why should I watch it if it’s just going to be another generic and average version of what they have been putting out for years?” is certainly a thing that seems to be crossing many people’s minds from what I see.

Eroldi sounds like a bit of an arrogant jerk every time I read about him to be honest. It’s ok not to want a big commitment on a movie like this, but he’s also said some pretty stupid things recently about The Kissing Booth being ridiculous and how he didn’t wanna make it, and that’s the movie that literally put him on the map.
