  1. What are the similarities between them though? Having been considered new talents in the 2010s? Having directed CBMs? Not sure what other connections there are. But yeah, I'm disappointed with the negative reactions to this, too bad I was really looking forward to this one. I hope I enjoy it myself.
  2. This and Argylle are pretty different movies, and yet I have the feeling they might just end up with similar numbers. I think they're both movies I'll have a lot of fun with (and might even end up as some of my personal favorites of the year) but, as has been said above, they probably seem a bit too similar to much of what came before from the same directors, or adjacent ones.
  3. I feel like half of my list has already been mentioned in the "honorable" mentions and we aren't even in the top 350 yet of those. I knew I had a weak spot for what many would consider "bad" movies, but woah. At least this time someone else had the sense to vote for Shanghai Knights as well.
  4. This trailer is a lot of fun, I'm sure I'll have loads of fun watching it, but I'm not sure this will do all that well in the BO.
  5. Geraldine Viswanathan has "Drive-Away Dolls" coming out, which I'm very interested in as a Coen brother directed movie, so that's exciting at least. Still, Ayo Edebiri is amazing, shame.
  6. Crazy that she actually said that, even if it was a bit twisted by the press
  7. Meirelles is a weird one. So much potential and a couple of really good movies, but it feels like he gets sidetracked a lot.
  8. If anyone is looking for early 00's forgotten action would-be blockbusters, this is it by the way. They're both awesome action flicks that I wholeheartedly recommend for action fans.
  9. Did you expect anything else though? I enjoyed it, but it’s a top 100 list out of hundreds of good options…
  10. “Thing did well, therefore the controversies surrounding it had 0 effect on it” Nah, not how any of this works. Harry Potter is inserted in cultures worldwide in a way we only really see with certain Disney products for example. It’s 100% become bigger than its author (funnily enough for this comparison, Walt Disney was sort of a horrible person as well), which means that any well made product carrying its brand will100% do commercially well no matter what the original author says or does, it’s inserted in way too many people’s core childhood memories. That doesn’t mean it wouldn’t have done even better if she hadn’t gone and opened her ugly little mouth. It’s hard to quantify stuff like that, and that game is definitely a case of too big to fail, all they had to do was deliver a good game, and from all I have seen (haven’t bought it myself) they have. Heck, even this movie made way more money than it should have all things considered, all because of the Harry Potter brand.
  11. More dinos? OK then, why not? Could be fun, just please don't take the Dominion route.
  12. This is hilariously incompetent if true. Sony just keeps on surprising with these. I'm pretty sure these films are actively hurting all other CBMs too, incredible. I'm very curious about this movie for all the wrong reasons.
  13. That would've been preferable. I have a weak spot for them. This just looks bad, real bad.
  14. Finally got to watch it (my small town movie theater only had the dubbed version, the bastards, so I didn't watch it at the cinema). It was really endearing and sorta adorable, shame about its numbers. Kamala is the best.
  15. Started from the 80s and worked my way up, my list ended up with 269 movies I could remember enjoying to varying degrees. Most of the 80's stuff ended up at the bottom for some reason, but if it is in the list, I enjoyed it. Sent the top 100 to Eric, but here's the complete list:
  16. He’s like this for pretty much every film he follows closely, bless him. Anyway, it’s honestly not looking horrible for Aquaman WW. I expected worse after the latest CBM bombing.
  17. This was so much fun, if you enjoyed the first one, you should enjoy this one as well, same vibes, just bromance instead of romance! I guess its only sin is being a CBM in 2023.
  18. Yep, this movie was as good as the first one. No idea what the critics are going on about. It’s not like they loved the first one or anything, but it still got much better reviews than this, while basically having the same breezy fun vibe, it’s odd. I guess this movie’s mistake is being a CBM in 2023. Or maybe they just wanted the baby to die. I’m not gonna lie though, it sorta feels like the father should’ve died and probably did in an earlier version of the film, but I can respect a film with such fun vibe not wanting to be too much of a downer.
  19. Aquabro 2 was a blast! No clue where people are coming from when they say it’s much worse than the first one or anything like that. Our small group of 3 generations of men came to the consensus that it was just as fun as the first one, with the same very action/adventure vibe and fun humor. Honestly had a great time at the cinema, full recommend for anyone who enjoyed the first one and is just looking for a fun action/adventure flick that really doesn’t feel all that superhero-y. Stay for the hilarious post-credit scene by the way.
  20. That total at 57.51M exceeds the 48-56M range @M37 had for the first week somewhere in its weekend thread. Does that mean it can break the 230M ceiling you gave for it back then?
  21. Forgive me as I’m not very familiar with the source material, but are you saying it isn’t fit for an R-rated adaptation? Is the general impression that this is Marvel’s version of a Suicide Squad wrong then?
  22. Crap, just realized that this will affect Star Trek, right when they were getting their shit together in the TV department. It's 100% going to be a big mess if WBD controls it, that sucks.
  23. ? Such an odd question. There are literal thousands of ways to make profit illegally. Not that this would be illegal necessarily, although it probably should considering that eventually we'll end up with only 2 or 3 relevant studios for all of Hollywood. Ain't that gonna be fun? Yep, so much fun.
