  1. I agree that it has found more fans since then, pity that in the years since the streaming culture has cemented itself even further. Right now it’s not a great environment for theatrical releases, let’s just hope Dune 2 is one of these films that will be treated as an event by the GA. I predict over 500M myself, but I’ve been wrong a lot this year.
  2. I am usually easy to please and optimistic, but this is not a good poster.
  3. There is one yes: In fact, I feel like half of the last couple of pages either belongs in there or in the Superman Legacy thread. EDIT: OK, it's funny that the image that appears embedded for the Warner thread is the MCU timeline image.
  4. Looking at what you guys are saying, I feel like The Color Purple is going to win Christmas day but Wonka will win the whole period overall, right? In the end I think both will do well, and this Christmas period overall seems like it's going to actually turn out OK compared to what many people were predicting even a few weeks ago, no? The Japanese surprise really helps too.
  5. This movie is doing so much better than even I thought it would do OS. Here's hoping DOM follows. I really tried watching it this weekend but couldn't make the subtitled shows time slots work for me, this sucks. I prefer to wait to watch it in English at home than to watch it dubbed, but I really witch I could watch it on a big screen.
  6. I’ve just watched the Honest Trailer that came out for this season 2 a couple of days ago and it was so negative and petty about the whole season that I almost questioned myself, wondering if I was incredibly out of touch or something since I usually agree with at least a couple of things in an Honest Trailer even if I disagree with the overall opinion, then I read the comments and everyone was commenting the same, about how the HT guys really went in looking for reasons to outright hate it. The tide has really turned against the MCU when even YouTubers that got big thanks in big part to the MCU movies are looking for anything possible to hate in their movies and shows just so they can follow the trend.
  7. Is discerning the right word here though? I always associated discerning with good quality, but isn't this less about quality and more about, as you put it, familiarity?
  8. The clear impression I got from the reviews is that critics disliked that Disney was essentially congratulating itself with this movie. A lot of them felt the nostalgia play was too on the nose and there was literally nothing else going for it besides that, as the story was predictable and the songs were mostly just decent, without a clear break out (a couple of them have heavy rotations in my house though). I feel once the meh reviews came out, the single adults who go watch good animations from Pixar and Disney decided to skip it due to its perceived bad quality, and the adults with kids made a decision to take their kids to watch Trolls instead, as they figure Wish will be on Disney+ soon anyway, and that’s very much Disney’s fault for training people to expect stuff to appear on Disney+ quickly. It’s not just about nostalgia, it’s simply about being a recognizable IP. Most hits this year were something recognizable, that’s the trend.
  9. Early European numbers for this movie are great, I believe American numbers will be as well, in the long run anyway.
  10. Yup, the numbers OS (Europe) are showing great potential. I guess some people just don't pay attention to OS numbers, but look at this from Charlie himself:
  11. Hopefully they keep on making more M:I movies after how amazing the last one was. McQuarrie continues to deliver.
  12. This. I kinda feel like people are willing to give anything Gunn makes a chance these days though. I don’t think it’ll do huge numbers, but I feel like there’s a quiet sort of interest to see what Gunn can do with Superman. The kind of interest that’s not quite a hype, it should do very meh numbers if it isn’t a great movie, but if it’s a great movie I can see the narrative of Gunn saving Superman and good WOM take it close to GOG numbers.
  13. I honestly believe that some grifters Youtubers got so used to calling things a bomb or flop to drive engagement up that they left any type of critical thinking behind a long time ago. Everything needs to be a bomb, needs to be hated, so that they can create a caps lock rage-bait title and drive up engagement. This sort of Youtube content took a real nose dive in the past couple of years, it's very hard to find a reasonable movies (or gaming) Youtuber nowadays.
  14. Certified fresh now. Well, from what people are saying it is a crowd pleaser, so let’s hope we have a hit here.
  15. They're probably focusing more on Wonka as their biggest possible hit of this season to be honest. But also, I imagine it isn't easy to organize press stuff for this movie considering the whole Amber Heard thing, as well as awkward questions about the death of this cinematic universe and the future of Aquaman himself. But I imagine we'll soon see some stuff with Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson together.
  16. I don't think I'll even be getting Minus One in a movie theater in this area. Pity, I'm starting to get very curious about it.
  17. Man, Godzilla really has had some interesting times throughout his film history.
  18. The RT critics consensus sounds more like a synopsis this time around, but it's very positive: 84% from 80 reviews, 7.4 by the way (top critics has 7.8 somehow)
  19. I wholeheartedly recommend GTA 2. Not even kidding. Eh, I suppose GTA 5 is fine too
  20. Oh my. I think Turning Red has potential for a mini breakout depending on their release strategy here, at least it should perform well per theater. @cannastop
  21. I'm really curious about how Wonka will do in the next couple of days with the reviews out.
  22. Does that make Tom Holland the next Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise? no, it doesn't make sense
