Absolutely baffled that someone could watch Ocean's 8 and think the cast is the thing that needs to change. What they do need is a touch of the Bergh. Gary Ross doesn't hold a candle to him.

The Mighty Quinn... kinda rules? Really fun little thriller featuring Denzel doing a Carribbean accent, solving mysteries and a dope soundtrack. I think it might just be the most underappreciated Denzel joint out there.

Mississippi Masala is good. The direction is a bit pedestrian but solid performances and it's got a story to tell. Also has one of the top five Denzel smiles.

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018)
aabattery replied to baumer's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
I think all three movies are pretty disposable overall but I really like their style and the voice actors are always giving some pretty fun performances. Helps that they all have a little bit of heart in their cores as well. I think I'd agree that this one is the best. Tartakovsky goes more and more in on his style in each entry and this one just goes nuts with it. The opening with Gaffigan's Van Helsing was cracking me up. Everything about that character, voice and design, worked perfectly for me. Him and the blue tooth joke in the second one are my favourite parts of the franchise. The frantic pace gets a little exhausting but I'm only there for 90 minutes so it doesn't quite wear out its welcome. But yeah, it's fine. -
Geneva Convention. Dunno. Maybe?

Went to a 10AM showing of Hotel Transylvania 3 and I am happy to say I have been arrested and am awaiting my sentencing. Hopefully they put me away for life as I can no longer be trusted in human society.

Hey, gotta look on the upside. Only down 33%. I2 is straight up killing it though. It's pulling out some huge numbers. Increased from last weekend! -
IIRC, while studios do get less actual return from China revenue it's somewhat offset by the fact that they don't have to pay anything for marketing or distribution there, which kinda balances it out (along with the fact that China is so much larger than all the other OS markets). This whole conversation is kind of a headscratcher to me anyway since I really don't see a situation in which Disney loses any money for AMatW. I get the disappointment talk; I thought it would make more than it has as well but by any reasonable definition, it's doing just fine.

I think the OS numbers are more than strong enough to justify a third AMatW (jesus that's an ugly acronym). It's on the low side for Marvel Studios, but it's still pumping out a solid 600M at the least. Most studios would kill for a franchise like that. Hell, Paramount does try to kill Tom Cruise all the time for those kinds of numbers.

I like all of 'em. They had the gall to shove Fast Five in my face after Ghost Protocol ended so now I'm watching that. My will is weak tonight. This is the first Fast and Furious movie my mum has ever watched so I'm not sure she's managing to follow all of it.

Was planning to marathon all the Mission Impossible's just before it came out here but Ghost Protocol is on Netflix and they kept waking it in my face in my recommended section. I am weak and the temptation was strong, here I am having watched Ghost Protocol again. Think I like it more every time I watch it. Good, good movie.
