  1. These dates have less than two wide releases, and neither one is a tentpole:January 3*January 10 (we have nothing wide here)January 24March 7March 21April 18**May 2, 9, & 16 all have major releases, but a smaller film or two could fit into any of those dates.May 30June 13**June 20July 11August 1August 15August 29September 5*September 12October 24**October 31**November 14December 5**Due to the deadness of these dates, it's less of a priority to get them filled.**There's a film that hasn't been completed yet on this date.
  2. As a democrat, I'm not really thrilled with the Obama doc being big, but I'm glad something is making the box office interesting.
  3. I'll take the rights to The Stuff Of Legend. It's a series of graphic novels about a group of toys that enter a new world where they become larger than life representations of themselves to save their owner from a great evil.
  4. ParaNorman? Granted, that will probably appeal to older kids and teens more than most kids films, but still.
  5. Looks great. The old man trying to get away from the zombie.
  6. Cruisers Genre: Action Date: July 25th Theaters: 2,788 Budget: $40 million Rating: PG-13 for language and intense sequences of action, including crashes Runtime: 108min (1hr, 48min) Cast: Unknowns After a man named Tom loses everything - his job, his girlfriend, and potentially his apartment, he is about to give up on life. However, one insane opportunity presents itself - the world of lower-city street racing. Led by a gang called The Cruisers, the illegal races involve just a few things: fast cars, hot girls, and good times. After a friend convinces Tom to participate in a race, he is hesistant, but he has the time of his life. The other people there also seem to like his driving. Tom graudally becomes a frequent racer with the Cruisers, getting enough money back not only for his apartment, but to live easily without a job. Meanwhile, he falls for a fellow cruiser, Elena. Eventually, the ultimate tournament for racing in the city comes, and Tom makes it to the final round. However, the police intervene during the final race, so everyone is forced to disband before the cops catch up with them, and the race is moved elsewhere, somewhere in the countryside. Tom is especially troubled. He had grown up on these city streets for so long, and having to drive in a new environment would not be easily for him. Against all odds, though, he manages to win the race. In the end, Tom finds another job, but he still keeps an interest in street racing.
  7. IMO, one of the best movies of all time. It doesn't even feel like a movie. It's more of an experience.
  8. Battleship wasn't even in the poll.
  9. Too bad they only did it once so far this year.
  10. Good to see a new face in the CAYOM world. :)We don't really have a set deadline yet, but if The Dark Tower is going to be a major film, I would save it for Y5, since many of the major dates have already been taken. However, we could use a few smaller films to fill a few dates with only one wide release, so you could make a few films like those for now.
  11. I don't know the whole gist of it, but I do know that large scale CGI + 3D = big overseas numbers.
  12. Danny Boyle's a little too stylistic for what I'm going for. David Fincher could work, though. And Impact, even a few fillers would do us good.

  14. I'm trying to find a director for my OC/hit-hopeful about humanity's last days before a solar flare is expected to hit the Earth. Does anyone think that Steven Soderbergh is an odd choice?
  15. Just a silly little filler. City Of Darkness Genre: Action/Thriller Date: February 28th Theaters: 2,917 (Includes 3D) Director: Gareth Evans (The Raid) Cast: Jaime Chung (Anira) Rating: R for strong bloody violence throught, some partial nudity, and language Runtime: 92min (1hr, 32min) Budget: $52 million Enigma City is one of the most high tech cities in the near future, but it is also plauged with violence and crime running through the streets of the lower city. It's such a problem that even the cops cannot handle it. However, there is a beautiful and deadly woman named Anira in the city. Anira is one of Enigma City's most feared vigilantes, although the common people realistically have nothing to fear from her. Even though she is highly skilled with technical infiltration, acrobatic movement, and martial arts combat, her main targets are ruthless criminals and corrupt politicans. Even though she takes away bad people from the world, the city views her as a public menace. To conceal her identity, she wears a mask upon entering each of her battles. Her one ally is her adopted father and mentor, Benon. However, a new threat comes to town when a gang of highly intelligent and skilled, almost to Anira's level, threatens to deploy a nuclear bomb to the city, she must use all of her talents to fight them off. Each fight with the gang members involves visually stylistic combat and intense fighting. In the end, she brutally kills the gang leader and stops the bomb from being deployed. However, the she becomes a hot target of the police. Uncertain of whether or not they will commend her, but not willing to risk chance, she drives off into outside the city limits, waiting to come back and strike again.
  16. Also, it was a pretty weak summer for major comedies. The Dictator & The Campaign were enjoyable when I saw them, but they were pretty forgettable. That, and I didn't find Ted nearly as funny as most other people did. I didn't even see The Watch and That's My Boy, but I can't imagine that I would have liked them.Honestly, The Avengers may have been the funniest movie of the summer. Even Brave's humor was below the Pixar standard, IMO.
  17. Made a little adjustment to my list. Mixed up Singin' In The Rain with The Sound Of Music.
  18. Moonrise Kingdom & The Avengers. Although between Beasts, Intouchables, and Safety Not Guaranteed, it was a satisfying summer in terms on indie films.ParaNorman was surprisingly good, TDKR was slightly below expectations, and Brave kind of dissapointed.
  19. This weekend sucks. The holdovers didn't even have great holds to make up for the crappy openers.
  20. 1. Django Unchained2. The Master3. Frankenweenie4. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey5. Argo6. Looper7. Les Miserables8. Skyfall9. Seven Psychopaths10. Wreck It Ralph
