  1. The Woman in Black won Friday grossing in dollars $1.4m while the Muppets was second with $731,000 according to THR. Think Muppets will win half-term week though.
  2. Going off-topic, wonder what's replacing the Muppets Orange ad given the film's out on Friday? The Pirates! would be good but the film's out in March, maybe Men in Black 3 or The Avengers?
  3. The Vow should do well on Valentine's Day, the previews for This Means War should do well but still FOX should have released it at half term rather than two weeks later.
  4. Surprised Journey 2 didn't do so well but it was affected by the cold weather and it will good business during half term given the lack of kids films. Jack and Jill didn't do too badly considering the minimal marketing. The Muppets I think £3-4m OW but I will be happy if it opens bigger.
  5. The Muppets opens in the UK next week, competition wise there's The Woman in Black and Star Wars 3D but in terms of similar competitions, there is only Journey 2 and A Monster in Paris, I'm expecting a decent OW, it'll make most of its money during the half term holidays.
  6. Given Paramount doesn't have many franchises now the Marvel films have gone to Disney, I think they'll greenlit another Mission Impossible for December 2014 or May 2015.
  7. I think the success of the film is due to the fact it ticks all the boxes of a good action film, IMAX helped a bit but it's incredible that Paramount were considering replacing Cruise with Renner and dropping any references to Mission Impossible and a lot of people were sceptical whether it could even match the third film's gross especially as it was against Sherlock Holmes and after Cruise's run of flops.I wonder if the next film will get a summer release or a December release? Either would be fine but I don't see Mission Impossible 5 released until 2014 at the earliest, they tend to be long gaps between each film.
  8. I'm expecting either Journey 2 or War Horse to be number 1 this weekend. Journey 2 should benefit from the real lack of family films apart A Monster in Paris.
  9. Madagascar I understand is to take advantage of half term and not get hurt by The Olympics, Ice Age, The Lorax and Brave in July and August. But it faces Frankenweenie and Hotel Transylvania which come out in the previous two weeks.
  10. It is still scheduled to be released in late March in the UK, Arthur Christmas was released first in the UK two weeks before its US opening. The Lorax which is released in the US in March isn't coming out here until July!
  11. I think it'll do well but I don't know how big the fanbase is in the UK compared to Potter and Twilight, I have read the books and they're really good books. It faces Wrath of the Titans and The Pirates! a week later.I'm more interested in how John Carter does.
  12. The first film did £25.9m total so AGoS will outgross within the next few days.A Monster in Paris should do better at half term, only other kiddy competition during that week is The Muppets and Journey 2.Has This Means War been pushed as it says it's been released on March 2nd with previews on Valentine's Day? Seems odd to have previews and not show it for two weeks unless Fox has cocked up the marketing.
  13. SH2 will beat the first film total, Mission Impossible has done well as well. War Horse should hit £20m with ease.
  14. I don't mind Adam Sandler but Jack and Jill looks awful.
  15. My German friend loved it, I think it should get at least a limited release, foreign films are a hard sell to an English audience unless they are mainstream, I do want to see Intouchables though.
  16. That week is incredibly busy with Star Wars 3D, The Muppets as well as ELAIC. It'll be top five at least. Journey 2 comes out next week and I reckon that'll be number 1 or 2, can't see Jack and Jill or Chronicle doing that great.
  17. I'm surprised Puss in Boots and KFP2 got nominated over both Tintin and Arthur Christmas, AC IMO should got nominated over PIB.
  18. The Descendants should do well, the fact it has already won awards should make it appealing to audiences plus it has George Clooney.
  19. Ghost Rider is being released by EOne in the UK rather than Sony, Is it a local distributor for Skyfall and The Hobbit or MGM?
  20. The OS gross all but gurantees a third film, pretty incredible considering its Domestic performance, in the UK its on course to beat the first film's total.
  21. It should do okay in the UK, they did a wise move of having it on February 3rd rather than February 10th where it would have faced The Muppets.
  22. I think War Horse will be number 1 again this week and perhaps next week unless The Descendants breaks out although I think TD will do decent business especially as it's winning awards.
  23. Paramount will have made less money from Tintin compared to Sony since Paramount only has English Speaking territories and Asia while Sony had the rest but I imagine both studios will greenlit, if Paramount did drop out which i doubt, then I imagine Sony would take on full worldwide distribution, IIRC Paramount did offer to take on full distribution in exchange for Spielberg and Jackson dropping or lowering their gross participation which they refused hence why another studio was needed.
  24. Odd that Tintin got nominated in both Best Animated Feature and Best Visual Effects, I think it's going to be a close call between it and Arthur Christmas, the BAFTA voters may be biased as it's Aardman.
  25. Tintin will get a Best Animated Feature NodGeorge Clooney will get Best Actor Nod for The DescendantsGary Oldman will get Best Actor Nod for Tinker Tailor Soldier SpyArthur Christmas will get Best Animated Feature Nod.
