  1. With Disney acquiring the Avatar franchise perhaps they might put the breaks on an annual release schedule for Star Wars and instead have one every two years in December with the Avatar sequels in between. Honestly I think Marvel is unique with their ability to release multiple instalments. Plus with the MCU you have separate franchises running at the same time with the gap between say a Captain America film and another Cap film being 2 years minimum. Star Wars right now is just the saga films and a bunch of spin-off films that have no relation with one another. It's much harder to get people excited for the spin-offs when they're each self contained stories with no link. The Rian Johnson trilogy idea is a very good one though Disney is probably a little more wary depending on how TLJ does.
  2. The show is freaking fantastic though. Helped me appreciate the story of the prequels a little more.
  3. I know nothing in his limited appearance in ROTS would compare to Grievious' first appearance in Genndy Tartakovsky's animated Clone Wars series but still I think Grievious was a wasted opportunity in that film and in the later Clone Wars show.
  4. Obviously this deal is much bigger than certain franchises but Disney being in control of both the Avatar and Star Wars franchises is just mind boggling. Remember the last non-Disney or Universal $1 Billion film was back in 2014 with Transformers: Age of Extinction. Avatar 2 to me was the most definite one to break that streak but now....
  5. Still can't believe this is happening honestly. Buying smaller studios like Marvel, Pixar and Lucasfilm is one thing but buying a MAJOR studio? It's impact both good and bad will be felt by nearly everyone in the industry.
  6. I can see Disney pumping the breaks on the annual Star Wars releases with the Avatar sequels coming into their possession. Could see Avatar sequels and Star Wars films take turns with the December release dates.
  7. Did anyone start an Infinity War WW>TLJ WW Club? Cause that prospect seems a much more interesting one now with the much lower OS numbers for TLJ being a real possibility.
  8. Still very skeptical about Flashpoint. As a concept it's a great idea for the DCEU like Days of Future Past was for the X-Men films but I'm not sure why general audiences would be interested in such a film when they weren't for Justice League. DoFP had the hook of having the original cast of X-Men returning. EDIT: Very disappointed (but not surprised) that no Superman film is listed in the slate.
  9. 3 MCU Films over $850M Worldwide in one year would be a great achievement.
  10. I was initially against the idea of having Wonder Woman 2 set in the past still before the events of BvS but after the Justice League fiasco it's best for the Wonder Woman films to stay as far away from the current day as possible. At least until WB/DC sorts things out hopefully before a potential Wonder Woman 3.
  11. Off topic but I totally forgot that the last non-Disney or Universal $1 Billion Film was Transformers: The Last Knight back in 2014. Thought Avatar 2 would definitely break that streak but with Fox either selling to Disney or Comcast...not sure when the next one is coming. Maybe Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald? Wonder Woman 2? Spider-Man: Homecoming 2? Bond 25?
  12. Don't like Disney acquiring more of the share of the market BUT since Fox is selling anyways and looking at the other bidders honestly Disney is probably the best option.
  13. Lex Luthor in BvS is many things. But boring and forgettable he is not unlike Steppenwolf.
  14. Steppenwolf's CGI didn't take me out of the film. Him being a boring, dull, weak villain did though.
  15. If anything it helped Taika Waititi become more confident in Chris Hemsworth's comedic chops for Thor: Ragnarok
  16. Is WB done with Snyder? Can't imagine they would want to worl together again after the whole JL controversy with the different cuts.
