Been a while since we've had an MCU Director drop out due to Creative Differences. Can't say I'm too sad since Doctor Strange was one of the weaker MCU films but still not nice to see directors leaving projects especially when this film will be out in less than two years.
Reaction here though is opposite to what I assume was when Edgar Wright left lol.
The air quality is pretty bad in Melb now. This morning was the first time I could smell the smoke in the air. I'm just lucky I lIve close to the city. Can't imagine how people in regional areas are going through.
The thing is the Creative Committee at Marvel had actual power over the creative directions over the films by all accounts. The Lucasfilm Story Group supposedly is more to do with keeping things in check with canon and not really about story decisions or anything like that. Rian Johnson seemed to work closely with them while seems like JJ Abrams didn't (which kinda shows in both TFA and especially TROS).
Glad Frozen 2 is now considered officially as the Highest Grossing Animated Film Worldwide. Though let's be honest The Lion King by definition is an animated film.
Hopefully it'll be a mute point when Frozen 3 comes out in like 2025.
That third weekend take is lower than the low $40M range that was expected. Again, part of Skywalker falling behind Last Jedi has a lot to do with Christmas and New Year’s Day falling later in the latter’s run, which boosted grosses greatly.
Huh funny they didn't mention that last week when comparing TROS to TLJ
With a new job not sure I'll have time to watch as many films as I did last year anymore in theatres

The ending was probably the best part of the film. Decent enough but I really hope they go through with the premise they set up at the end. I would actually like to see more screentime for the teens/young adults in the next one.
I think it's fair enough if the average person didn't know about the Jedi but Mandalorians should know all about them being the sworn enemy.
Palpatine's main thing wasn't eradicating the existance of the Jedi as much as character assassinating them.
The shows will work like how the solo films relate to the Avengers films I think. The shows will ultimately have an impact on the overall story of the MCU but I don't think they'll make it that viewers will be totally lost if they only saw the films.
Probabky more bearish on this than others. Wouldn't be shocked if this was the lowest grossing MCU film of 2021 (still think it'll be in the $800M-$900M range mind you).
Not sure Gunn would be too keen on Thor having a major role in GOTG Vol 3 since it's supposedly wrapping up the stories of the main members of that group. I do expect the GOTG to be in Love and Thunder as a cameo.
BO wise I think Civil War numbers is a good expectation.
The franchise had the opportunity to grow in China. They were interested to see what the fuss was about. The notion that it was "never popular" and could therefore never succeed is wrong IMO cause that implies China would have never given the franchise a chance but as we saw with TFA and to a lesser extent Rogue One that wasn't the case. They tried it and said no thanks.
