The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo
Darth Lehnsherr replied to grim22's topic in Numbers and Data
There's been talk of a Shrek 5 for ages and I'd say why not honestly. It's easily Dreamworks' biggest property (alas Kung Fu Panda and HTTYD should be bigger than what they are) and you're right the nostalgia factor would wipe away any lingering disappointment people may have over Shrek the Third and Shrek Forever After. To this day I consider Shrek 2 still one of the best animated sequels of all time. -

Yeah still boggles my mind how much Shrek 2 made DOM. And I grew up with those films too so I know how massive they were growing up. Frozen 2 might be the last chance for an animated film to beat Shrek 2's adjusted gross. -
Yeah Avatar 2 is gonna have a tough time matching the first one in USD in Australia. With current exchange rates it would need to make $30M AUD more just for it to match the USD total of the first.

Oh I think they say cause he's just a baby he was able to slowly adapt to Earth's atmosphere as he was growing up. Martha even mentions as a baby Clark struggled to breathe at times probably cause his body was slowly getting used to Earth. Supposedly it was harder for Zod cause he had spend so many more years on being used to Krypton than Clark ever did so the change was more jarring for him. Though tbh that's one of the problems I have with the movie since Zod in actuality adapts to Earth's atmosphere fairly quickly even though he states part of the reason to terraform Earth was so that the Kryptonians wouldn't need to take a lifetime to adjust to Earth's atmosphere when in reality Zod did it pretty easily.

Are midnights for Endgame in China really gonna happen before the reactions/reviews from the premiere? Cause if so the Mayoan score might be the first evidence of audience reception. -

$70 a year seems a steal IMO I'm sure they'll hike up the price in the near future -
Feige is gonna need to balance between having the shows not be filler but also not be so essential to say an Avengers 5 film so that it won't alienate those who don't watch the shows. Though Infinity War might have shown that audiences are ok with not necessarily knowing every thing leading up to said film as long as the film itself is great.

I've never used Stan is it any good? -
$2B-$2.5B is my early guess. As someone who didn't love Avatar I'm actually really excited for the sequels. Mainly cause Cameron has spent a decade prepping them.
