  1. Oh, look...another "This is not MCU, therefore it is crap" sentiment-fueled post from the Futureist. How unexpected!
  2. Looking at the responses to Patty Jenkins' sharing of the Wiig-as-Minerva pic, it is amazing how many times Wiig played scenes on SNL that work as perfect gif responses to the picture unveiling.
  3. Remember how IT's gigantic success was reminiscent of the horror phenomenons of years past (The Sixth Sense, The Exorcist, Jaws)? I wonder if we will ever get a romantic comedy today whose box office in adjusted dollasr rivals the mega success that stuff like Pretty Woman, Ghost, and Fat Greek Wedding had. I guess box office is just one aspect, because, for example, will we ever get the type of romantic film that utterly captures the hearts of the country and becomes as iconic as Dirty Dancing? That film only adjusts to 147 million, but I cannot think of many romances that have endured as much as DD. I look forward to a modern romcom that becomes the IT of romcoms...
  4. In what way? Was it in that TV show or the subsequent films?
  5. I actually liked T3 even if it felt like a shot-by-shot remake of T2. I guess the novelty of having a female-shaped Terminator made me overlook its problems. Everything else after T3 I hated...
  6. When DCEU gets their shit together and create a JL film worthy of those iconic characters, we will get out first worldwide all-time superhero # 1 film.
  7. A Star is Born and Mamma Mia! 2 will gross over 100 million.
  8. I grew up with a grandmother who loved the TV show, and as I recall, it was a show as gentle and grandma-friendly as Murder She Wrote (maybe I am misremembering it?). To see it turned into a violent, even gory film (now filmS) is odd. I wonder what my granny would say if she were alive to see these films...
  9. Calling it "best fight" is so reductive, in my opinion. I think the power of No Man's Land was more about asserting oneself, tearing through life's challenges with aplomb and strength, and inspiring others than 'fighting." Although she was fighting in that scene to defend the village that was being terrorized by the Germans. Anyway, well deserved.
  10. If they have to, absolutely have to make a female spin-off of Spidey, why not go for the first woman to wear the mantle?? Jessica Drew's backstory is a million times more interesting that all the other women who became "spider-women" after her...
  11. Nice 80s-style retro posters!!! I lived through the eighties, and these certainly feel like the covers of a VHS tape!!
  12. Damn...so on SDCC we are getting a first look at Wonder Woman 1984, Shazam, and Aquaman? Get here ASAP, Comic Con!!
  13. I agree partly. However, it always makes me happy when a director I love gets a bigger platform and increases their industry clout, even if it is thanks to fluff. I hope that she gets the gig not just because I would love a woman to direct BW (and a black woman at that), but because this talented black woman deserves to become better known.
  14. Wait...So people think that Solo's flopping is a result of TLJ's alleged tainting of the brand? Have you seen Solo? Solo flopping was entirely its own fault. When Episode X once grosses 1.5 billion dollars minimum, will people shut up about this alleged implosion/crumbling of the SW franchise?
  15. The Last Jedi grossed 1.3 billion dollars and got a 91 % Fresh score at RT. How exactly is this a franchise imploding?
  16. Agreed. Also...Assante is my choice. Hopefully she gets the gig.
  17. I am really curious about Chris Pratt's career path post [his arguable] stardom. He really has not had any hit that could be considered his and his alone (has he?)... GOTG is pure MCU brand recognition and superhero craze, JW was all about the dinos and nostalgia, and does anyone care about or even remember Passengers and the western remake he made with Denzel? I like the guy and think he is charming as heck; he is still young enough to get more chances to prove his mettle as a box office draw.
  18. Nothing anyone does now will make all fans of SW be happy all the time (short of creating a time machine, bringing back Fisher, Ford, and Hammil when they were young and hot, and making new films starring those three characters battling Vader and trying to destroy Death Stars ad nauseaum). And even that I bet would still get gripes from half of the SW fandom.
  19. Futurist's avatar is a clue as to why he loved "mother." I actually thought it was ok, but Passengers? Now THAT is a travesty and a crime against cinema, and I bet Futurist thinks it's a masterpiece.
  20. I feel that Diane Guerrero (Orange is the New Black) can be Vanessa. She is a solid actress and a decent singer...
  21. Uh oh...get ready for the litany of "Avatar?? Original? But it was "Pocahontas Meets a Man Called Horse after they Danced with Wolves at Ferngully, the Last Rainforest" excuses.
  22. I hope it is Cheetah related (although not a full reveal...maybe some obscured rehearsal pic or some makeup tests or something). I also would love to see some sort of brief fight like what we saw on that CW special in 2016...remember we saw an untouched clip of Diana hitting that German guy with her shield?
  23. YAY!!!!! Cheetah might be more practical and makeup than CGI maybe??? I can dig that!!!
