CGV is the major theater chain in the country, and they show the present day sales level for all of their movies publicly, hourly, updated 20 minutes after the hour. At 00:20 local time (in about 6 hours) we’ll be able to see out first sales number for Frozen — the amount of tickets sold for Thursday showings at CGV. From early CGV numbers we can extrapolate the final CGV number, and then estimate the CGV ratio (very roughly tends to be 45-55%) to forecast the total admissions for the day.

Final day proceeding normally, 1.1 unless the night goes crazy. Can’t wait to get the first CGV number in 6 hours and make some guesses for OD.

Yeah, the PS are really blowing me away in this market. I guess Frozen and AoU came out pretty close to each other and basically same size, so in some sense you could have expected similar PS for their sequels? But I totally did not, before they began I was thinking that just 600k would be a great result for family animation. it really makes you wonder how presale loaded this one will be, but, like... probably not more presale heavy than IW, right? So I can’t help but wonder about 12+ results. FWIW today looks like 835 atm. If that holds I think final pretty comfortably 1.1M+

Hey, whatever happened with this? Article is from just 2 months ago and uses future tense, so I’m guessing it hasn’t happened yet? Because Frozen is going to go for a 90%+ ticket saturation and want way more than 50% of screens.
