  1. Feels like a strawman. People are aware that things *can* go sideways (positively or negatively). That’s why you get your “probably”s, your “looks like”s, your “present outlook X-Y but see how it goes”s. On the other hand, things usually don’t go outside of regular trends. That is what makes them regular trends. Our trackers have been absolutely killing it for years and years, even and perhaps especially during the volatile conditions of the pandemic. So let’s nip this “people are too obsessed with presales” narrative in the bud. It’s the info that is available, use a little discretion, but it’s extremely valuable especially for big releases.

So yeah, I know Lost City sales were up prior, but I was too distracted from Batman to really take advantage of it. But there's nothing else to track until Morbius in a couple days, and it'll be a while before we get into the Morbius/Sonic/Beasts triple bout, so might as well play around with this. Plus awareness on The Quorum has been really good for this over the past couple months, which really perked my interest.

Anyhoo, I don't really have any good comps this far out, but I do have Uncharted to look forward to tomorrow. Sadly, I'll have to wait a good, long while for Jungle Cruise and Free Guy, the most appropriate comparisons to use. Seems okay though.

Geeze, what is this actual tracking post doing here. Way out of theme with the pages I just caught up on 😛

I do kind of see the attraction of JC and FG, but I am also wary. They seem more kid/family oriented vs Lost Coty being more adult aimed, though all are nonsequel light action comedy fare. Not like I have another suggestion though -  haven’t had a classic adult aimed action romcom in a looooooong time that I can recall.

  3. Okay, okay, so — I know I pioneered the Begins OW comp back a few weekend threads ago (and thanks to @PenguinXXR and @Porthos for wayback sleuthing assists). That came out to about 140M.

Another popular comparison I’ve seen for fairly self-evident reasons is SMH, which also translates to about 140M.

But, food for thought — what would Homecoming have opened to if it *wasn’t* MCU? In some ways that is an even better parallel, right? I am thinking maybe like 90-95 translating to… 100-110?

No spoilers but the talks of inaccessibility are so overblown lol. It's not like Joker, it's not even disturbing or insanely darker than Dark Knight or TDKR? Yes there's a lot of plot but the action payoffs every 20-30 minutes are great beats. Strong ending.

If general audiences can't handle this, then we're doomed and attention spans are unrecoverable.

Not loving something isn’t the same as not being able to “handle” it.
