  1. So Avatar 2 will be releasing in 2022. How likely is Summer release or will they stick to Christmas. Also make me wonder, @Barnack since Avatar 2 is in production for at least (I guess 5 years) 4 years, the opportunity interest cost on the film would be huge. $300mn investment for 3 years, shall have $100mn interest cost definitely and now with most likely another delay of year (if they stick to Christmas), will add another $40mn easily or I am doing it wrong.
  2. I think we are looking at theaters reopening in July. There will be 4 months of releases to cram which are all big Summer films. Black Widow shall be taking July 4th weekend most likely. Mulan shall be around Mid July as was The Lion King's date. August will be again very crammed leading all the way upto October. Venom 2 may go take November spot of Eternals perhaps and Eternals on Christmas. I am not sure if Raya The Last Dragon will be complete for release at Thanksgiving, Soul shall move to Thanksgiving. That's what I want.
  3. Global Box office: $42.5 Billion (Highest of All Time) Top Markets North America: $11,350,000,000 China: $9,124,7166,446 Japan: $2,228,942,768 United Kingdom: $1,722,657,233 South Korea: $1,684,108,499 India at number 7 with $1,227,318,406 which looks like they took official numbers for Bollywood and Hollywood coupled with their provisional data. Actuals shall be $1.55-1.6 Billion. In admissions, China number one with 1.7 Billion followed by North America 1.24 Billion and India 0.8 Billion.

  5. So Australia currency has crashed. It was $1 = A$1.5 few days back, today its A$1.79.

  7. I have Top 10 at $0.5mn Approx but the reported locs are like only 30% of what the theatre count was given by Studios, actuals could be $1mn may be. Australia Top 10 is $891,790 with outside Top 10 being very low. So North America is still bigger, though smaller than Japan.
  8. Worldwide #1 should be Bird of Prey with $2.75mn. Also crossed $200mn.

  10. Just need to say we updated our previous gross or simply some currency fluctuation.
  11. Me too but then looking at admissions it start making sense. The ticket rates in weekend were very high. Hopefully we get $2mn in China re-release for $2.8Bn bragging rights but I am not sure if Disney will be considering those since they won't be getting any SHARE.
  12. Endgame beat us the optimistic in its first 5 days. Endgame beat @Gavin Feng the optimistic in Tue-Friday.

  16. It will do 50% of its business in China though. 25% in USA most likely.
  17. But is it big? Anyways let go the first thing, if China theatre opening turns out fine and there is no second wave, releasing Mulan should be a good option.
  18. How likely is that Mulan is the first big film China watch? I mean what's the harm. Release it in Chinese if you worry about piracy.
  19. So why will anyone buy a digital copy when its on streaming free in 2 Weeks. Blu Ray may still sell due to physical substance but digital is almost worthless. Should have directly put on D+ However since Onward will even lose release cost, releasing directly to D+ would have saved release cost.
  20. It is inevitable. I was going to take break from cinema going anyways this year.
