  1. Deakins spoke pretty highly of Fraser's work on his podcast a few months ago too. Probably one of the best honours any cinematographer today can get.

  3. I've a feeling Skarsgard will be Count Orlok this time; Dafoe might be the Van Helsing analogue though.

  5. Did some extra digging. This may have originally come from Jordan Ruimy, so definitely extra reason to question the validity. The bit about the film screening out of competition at Cannes does sound believable though; outside of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood I can't recall any other big-budget/Hollywood films that were in competition at Cannes.
  6. Thanks for the clarification. Looks like I may have jumped the gun in posting this.
  7. Apparently Cannes won't show it unless it's shorter, and Apple seems committed to giving it a real theatrical release.

  9. I'm curious, but at the same time I don't want to know in case it's something I'm already interested in seeing.
  10. https://www.forbes.com/sites/carolinereid/2023/02/08/disneys-300-million-bet-to-tempt-back-cinemagoers/?sh=7eb427bb6e7a The film has also received £46.2 million (roughly $56 million) in tax credits from the British government, so it's possible this figure is the 'gross' budget before accounting for the tax breaks (if so, the net budget would be around $238 million). Still, it feels like a bit much.
  11. Wouldn't be surprised if the Bond producers don't have him on their list at least, to be honest.

  13. I really like that film and I wholeheartedly agree about her being the best thing about it.
  14. Possibly hot take, but Fraser should've gotten a nod for this over Deakins for Empire of Light.

  16. It's amazing how many BAFTA nods the 1989 film got, considering it only made it into Art Direction (which it deservedly won, but still, it should've been up for Makeup and Costume Design too).
