  1. July and PA? Lmao. Would have understood May 7th PA but July seems unnecessary. Disney panicked here. Well, at least I know I'll be seeing it in theaters opening night.
  2. Wednesday is up to 1121 sold out of 1887 total. I checked Tuesday as a control and it was 199 sold out of 1421 total. So we can say that OD PWPs are probably 80-85% for GvK.
  3. Does your region have a decent Cinemark presence? Or is it mostly just AMC heavy?
  4. GvK trailer is the most successful trailer since Endgame. I see no evidence that Tenet had more buzz.
  5. I can't say I got any Iron Man 2 vibes from the first episode. I could be wrong, but I certainly don't recall anything being set up that wasn't directly relevant to the plot of the show.
  6. Thanks. With so many more seats available I think it is quite possible that Fri/Sat will be higher than Wed for this.
  7. I saw the list of states you posted that have that holiday, and I know it included TX, so I can say for sure that it isn't really a big thing in TX (didn't even know it was a state holiday). Don't know about other states, I would imagine it should be a bigger deal in CA since Cesar Chavez was a big figure for that state.
  8. That makes sense. So probably the weekend PWPs are much more divided between different films.
  9. Could you check the sales for Friday and Saturday? Based on the PWP data I'm a little curious.
  10. I don't think it will reach the "buzz" level of the later WV episodes. The theorizing got out of control there. As long is it continues to maintain a high level of quality and it completes these arcs that the first episode set up, that will be enough for me.
  11. I guess that would be somewhere in the range of ~35-37 5-day. Seems plausible, though definitely on the low end of the range I have.
  12. Reviews are pretty good, as expected. Some seem to be disappointed that it isn't as (ostensibly) weird as WandaVision, but overall the consensus seems quite positive.
  13. Ok, I grant your point about the images. I don't think the headlines are wrong but the images are sensationalist and some of them racist for sure.
  14. "Has destroyed", but I'm talking about right now. What is America doing right now that is worse than those camps? And the Chinese government is a threat to American values. The CCP's values are quite opposed to American values and they are definitely trying to spread said values, and have quite a lot of economic influence to do so. So that is not untrue either.
  15. It doesn't have to be a danger of being "attacked" to write a negative headline about a government. Maybe people don't like the actions nor the values of the Chinese government.
  16. "Kung flu" comes to mind. And it makes little sense to me to say that "Gen Z" or "identity politics" causes people to be racist. Like if racial tensions increased during the Obama presidency, likely that was because there were racist people who were viscerally angry that a black man had been elected president. However, this is not "anti-Chinese" but anti-Chinese government. And well-earned by them, I might add. And btw while the USA is full of issues, "China is no worse than the US" is just blatantly untrue.
  17. In that case I kinda wish the show was delayed, though I understand the desire to start getting these out quickly. I liked it overall but it definitely didn't feel as smooth as it could've been.
  18. I think for Wednesday PWPs it should be fine. Even with theaters that are preselling a lot of PWPs, the weekdays tend to be fairly dead, so it's likely not holdovers driving those numbers.
  19. Rewatched Season 1 Episode 3 and in retrospect, that one is definitely up there with the S1 finale and S2E7 as one of the truly great episodes of the show. It does a great job showcasing just what Mandalorians are all about for the new viewer, and Din's choice to save Grogu, while predictable, was still very compelling. Even his little head tilts and motions showed just how conflicted he was. The arrival of the Mandalorians at the end is still one of the greatest moments in the show.
