  1. Let's be real here, the first half of next year is still looking incredibly dicey. The schedule will still be in flux until at least the third or fourth quarter of 2021, guarantee it.
  2. I think my main problem with the Dune trailer is one that has plagued a lot of recent underperforming sci-fi blockbusters; it already expects the audience to know and care about the plot, world, and characters of the property it's adapting. Time and again, studios (especially this one) keep mistaking the heaps of attention and praise they get from geeks and stans for something that will translate into significant real world numbers. It rarely does.
  3. The Daily Mail is reporting that filming began last week. (Normally I'd take it with a grain of salt because it's the Mail, but they included pictures and actual details so I figured it was worth posting here.) https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-8654371/Tom-Cruise-58-leaps-speeding-motorbike-action-shot-Mission-Impossible-film.html
  4. lol. As with all pre-release PR for blockbusters, the more accurate quote would be "we made sure to film most everything with practical effects... that we used as reference footage for the 1,500 VFX shots we ended up creating in post".

  6. You do realize that not all of those movies will be staying there, right? Not only are this year's movies still being pushed back but most of the ones scheduled for 2021 and 2022 haven't even finished/started production yet.
  7. Moved to 2021. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/hasbro-posts-quarterly-loss-as-pandemic-hits-eone-1304504
  8. I remain convinced to this day that none of the Grindlewald stuff was in the original script for the first Fantastic Beasts movie and instead got added in later, either during shooting or reshoots. Not to over exaggerate, but pretty much every time the film cuts away from Newt and the gang it basically looks and feels like a totally different movie. That movie being The Crimes of Grindlewald. I'm willing to bet that Colin Farrell's Graves was just supposed to be an evil wizard government official who was using the Ezra Miller character's uniquely powerful magic to seize control of the city or whatever.
  9. Guarantee this will be one of those movies like Crash or Life is Beautiful where in less than a decade people are going to be shocked that it won as many awards/got as much hype as it did.

  15. Honestly, if Disney does decide to take the plunge and release a movie in theaters internationally and on VOD in the US then this would be a pretty good test subject.
  16. I have no doubt, especially with Rowling's multiple embarrassing public meltdowns over the last couple of weeks, that the script is still being worked on as we speak. In fact I would bet good money that they'll still be trying to rewrite scenes even during filming and possibly after too, if they do reshoots.
  17. I'm slightly more partial to Bo Welch's more Art Deco retro-futurist refinement of this look for Batman Returns but Furst's work is stunning. Every Gotham City since the 90s been kind of a downgrade. My personal favorite attempt at a "realistic" Gotham City was probably the one in Batman Begins, with the extensive network of citywide monorails that magically disappeared in the sequels.
  18. But... I'm also reading this...online... 🤯 :Edit: In all seriousness I probably should have worded that comment better. I meant extensive in the sense that the changes to the story created by the reshoots were reportedly extensive. I know the cast, crew, and studio have said they weren't and that it was a very smooth production but precedence suggests its prudent to take that with a big grain of salt. Justice League anyone?
  19. I work in the film industry, I am aware of what reshoots are like. I was making a joke about the extensive reshoots and notoriously troubled production on his last SW movie.
  20. From what I've read, it was just the exterior as the interior resembled nothing like a hospital. :Edit: I went back and rewatched all the scenes inside the Hospital and yeah, they shot it on a soundstage. The painted backing they use behind the "window" actually makes no geographical sense when compared with the exterior of the building and looks kinda fake in 4K.
  21. I can't say for sure whether it was exactly half of the movie, but certainly a good chunk of it was. They did shoot in Chicago for many of the exterior scenes but plenty of the interior ones were done on stage. The courtrooms, the vault, the construction site, the ferries, the hospital rooms, Wayne Enterprises, and the police headquarters were shot on stages at either Pinewood, Cardington, or the Farmiloe Building.
  22. I think a lot of people forget that about 90% of Batman Begins and more than half of TDK was shot entirely on soundstages in London. While I'm frankly more of a fan of the Burton/Schumacher approach of extreme stylization, it is entirely possible to achieve a realistic look while shooting on stage.
  23. I don't normally go in for blind items but someone emailed this to me and it's so out there and weird that I don't even care if it's true or not. tldr: This person alleges that Paramount Pictures is trying to bribe the Polish government into letting them destroy a structure for a stunt. https://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2020/07/blind-items-revealed-22.html
  24. Doesn't this movie have a month of reshoots to go through? If so, then there is absolutely no way it's coming out in September.
