Man... This tells the state of mainstream music today. 80% of this list is pretty bad IMO. But that is for another discussion.
I like the choice of The Weeknd, I think he can give a nostalgic vibe to it that will resonates with the movie's tone and the audience.
Raving reviews do bring a very nice bump to sales. Good, but not great reviews not so much honestly. At least is what I learned following this thread...
I agree about the selling point. It's just that IMO it really affects the movie, I saw it in both formats and for me it definitely reduced my overall enjoyment with the movie and the world of Pandora (although I still really liked it).
I don't fault anyone either. It's just hard for me to understand regarding Avatar specifically. Also here in Brazil 3D is much more popular than in the US apparently, so it could be some of this affecting my point of view too...
I definitely don't want to preach how people should watch a movie and all... but that being said, I just don't get at all someone wanting to watch Avatar in 2D, it removes a really significant part of what makes this specific movie so special. It's a whole other movie and theater experience in 3D.
Here in Brazil they showed the 2015 Champions League final in theaters and it was a huge success. I went to see it and my theater was packed and it was a great experience, they should do it more honestly. It would be great to watch Brazil matchs in the World Cup in a packed theater. They could show relevant matches of the brazilian clubs too, but I am afraid that would be risky given that football is very violent over here.
Will Paws of Fury even gonna make 7M ow? The numbers seen awful. It is understandable though, I saw the trailers (yes, there were TWO!) in the Minions session and not even the little kids liked it, it was completely embarassing.
Except the fact that this was not a solo movie and at least most definitely not sold as one. I think it is acceptable, but anything more than that I don't see it...
I honestly never understood the concept of a "bad month" for movies. It's all about the movies releasing in the month and not the month itself. There are good months though, like December because of the unique holiday nature of it and exactly the fact that January is completely empty because studios think it's a bad month lol. How ironic...
