  1. This was fantastic. Scariest film I’ve seen in years. The AI thing is a non issue. It was filmed years ago, before the strikes etc and it’s three intersectionals. They shouldn’t have done it, but there’s no point getting knickers in a twist. Side note: the amount of financier company logos at the start of the film got laughs from my audience lol, I think there were 8.
  2. Late Night with the Devil is the scariest film I’ve seen in years. One part made my eyes water a bit.
  3. Ah thanks, Box Office Report had 2,150 yesterday so maybe it increased. I love A24, but Neon have had some great horrors too (Lodge, Possessor, Infinity Pool, Titane, Immaculate). With Cuckoo and Longlegs coming, I’m glad they’re leaning into hyper violence. Hope they can keep going.
  4. Was hoping for more for Immaculate and Late Night With The Devil. But I guess £450k and £160k is alright.
  5. 2,100 theatres and Black Bear produced for under $10m and sold distribution. $5m would be fine for an indie. Would $5m be Neon’s biggest debut? Great for Late Night with the Devil. Seeing it tonight!
  6. Cinema counts: Ghostbusters 687 Immaculate 511 Late Night With The Devil 220 The Persian Version 162 Afterlife got 670, 2016 got 581.
  7. Guess what, there were no verified audience scores on RT in 2016. Back on topic: $600k would be great for Immaculate!
  8. You said they should’ve released a full trailer. That would be pretty unheard of for a big film like this just going with a full one first 6 months out with no teaser. Maybe you meant “longer teaser”. I guess.
  9. But why would they skip a teaser? Having the full trailer out for 6 months prior seems a bit unheard of?
  10. It gave me nostalgia. Glad they used the song. I think here in the UK it’ll be huge with my generation at least. I do wonder if parents are too precious/weak/boring these days to let their kids see it though.
  11. Yes, The Predator could be a good comparison gross wise. To be fair, I think Covenant would’ve been much better if it was just a “big scary alien killing everyone”. I think it’s the right move to go back to slasher in space.
  12. Yeh the 2016 one is easily my favourite too. I’m a tad too young for the first film to have any nostalgia (even though I’m 36, it wasn’t as big here in the UK - to me anyway I was watching the early 90s films on a loop instead). I thought the 2nd was boring as a kid and I skipped Afterlife. I agree though, the first started off as a comedy by SNL actors and then because it was popular they tried to make it a blockbuster franchise and they’re still going that route, which doesn’t seem to be paying off.
  13. So after settling at around 64% after SXSW, it’s not up to 78% with 49 reviews. Glad it’s getting a good critical reception. 2,150 theatres. Hopefully it can do decent numbers for Neon. If it can be their biggest opening that would be a decent headline for them, and it won’t take much.
  14. Oh they did go this route. Like the new trailer. Time to move away from that Prometheus (nonsense) stuff.
  15. Yep it’s still in release though so they must just not be reporting anymore. Wonder what the real final total actually would be.
  16. Looks like they’ve stopped reporting. No overseas update this week.
  17. It’s now top 10 all time for a non-English language film here in the UK.
  18. Wait how does it know what colour to make things and what detail to include? Lol I feel bad for parents sometimes, I couldn’t watch something like this.
  19. Me too. Oh he did the Poltergeist remake. Let’s not try to spin this critical response to being the fault of a film that was released 8 years ago lol
  20. These Ghostbusters reviews are unlikely to persuade anyone who wasn’t already going. Rotten at 44%.
  21. Yeh from accounts I follow I’d say mixed to poor without seeking them out. Empire, discussing film, Guardian, Bloody Disgusting all negative. Deadline, Variety and Screen Daily looked like they leaned positive though.
