  1. Whatever it was it was pre COVID gimped theatres, so therefore less impressive.
  2. It lost a lot (not all) of its PDFs last week so some of the damage was already done.
  3. I don't see why most media companies would want to buy ALL of WB and absorb its huge debt load. Maybe Apple could do it? I think both it and Paramount will most likely get stripped for parts. Does Legendary actually own its Monsterverse films/media?
  4. I was a teen when the original Scream released which means I'm well out of "the demo" by now. This is why they needed to shift to younger leads.
  5. Scream 7 absolutely will bomb because the Rule 0 circumstances of Melissa's firing will most likely still be going on by then and people Neve Campbell's age don't pay money for theatrical horror.
  6. Now the Frozen Empire opening feels even more depressing.
  7. No no no, you're supposed to have Ben Affleck show up and say I'M THE GODDAMNED BATMAN while a 5 minute shot of Superman's head on a bloody pike is show WHILE the children's choir is singing Sweet Dreams. Why can't you bloody people get trailers right?!?
  8. I don't get the "can't qualify for Oscars" thing. Haven't spring/summer movies done relatively well at least in the 2020s as long as they were commercial? Yeah it COULD be a bomb but so could anything.
  9. I can buy that Kong is cheaper than Dune. No revenue share with A list actors and Villeneuve.
  10. Tron is still pretty influential in computer/design terms even if people generally can't quote the movie.
  11. It's worth noting the Sony probably WILL make another Ghostbusters, even with Grace/Coon in the cast, because it's vastly outperforming the shlock like Madame Web and Kraven they're releasing otherwise this year. Venom 3 will do okay but Sony's other movies are thin gruel.
  12. After all the whining about "superhero fatigue" or whatever it's worth noting that crap hero films actually do fail regularly. People acting like Madame Web means the genre is doomed are forgetting turds like The Spirit, Catwoman, Bloodshot, Green Lantern...there's a LONG list.
  13. Very, very few horror films are actually scary once you're past a certain age. The last scary one I actually remember was The Lighthouse. Eli Roth's Thanksgiving had some imaginative gross out work but was about as scary as a He-Man episode.
  14. Concerts are a sucky analogy whenever Taylor Swift tours. "Real" concerts are people in some dump in Iowa refusing to show up for Night Ranger.
  15. Panda's actual reviews among adults were rather mediocre so it's a somewhat obvious poaching target. Even if Frozen Kingdom isn't exactly world beating material.
  16. That's a rather prosaic number for this movie. Not a "bad" debut if it holds but will probably barely go over 100 mil with the chunk Kong takes from it next week. The actual crap debut is Immaculate.
  17. Chimpire is just embarassing at this point. Wasn't he the biggest Flash cheerleader? Like he was practically claiming it was as good as the Dark Knight.
  18. Look, quit digging a bunch of disgusting stuff off Reddit and let the series end in piece. The negative reviews I found on Metacritic and RT don't mention these absurd conspiracy theories. Hell I remember when Fury Road came out some people were genuinely pissed that Mad Max was upstaged by a female character. There's none of that here. There's not even the 2016 manufactured controversy. Just...crickets. THIS is how a series dies. Not when Last Jedi style shenanigans happen or with a Dominion style "not very good but people still watch" installment. It's when the original writers and stars are mostly gone and the fanbase clearly did not pass to a new generation.
  19. I suspect Ghostbusters is rather soft and kids/adults are more interested in the other 2 movies still. Like there wasn't a huge migration of interest to it once it actually dropped and some people would rather rewatch the other 2 movies.
  20. There isn't much of a current Ghostbusters fanbase. Certainly not one that's going to bust down the doors for a film with no Ramis, no Reitman, and no Moranis. That's a much bigger problem then whatever manufactured political controversy you're trying to push.
  21. I really wish people on here would stop dissing the Ghostbusters fanbase. Most of us are over 40 and realize we are no longer "in the demo". Ghostbusters was not a thing most kids 2000s and onwards got into because it stopped getting a lot of merch after the late 90s when Extreme Ghostbusters ended. The fandom is one of 80s/90s kids and very few people were deeply invested in the 2016 film. So be it. Some things have a single generation fandom (Back to the Future is a good example) and should be left as such.
  22. That is one hell of a messy, ugly looking poster. Can't they just show a frozen Ghostbuster logo or a Slimer with a warm hat on?
