  1. I think the Black Panther/Wakanda corner is just as separate as Deadpool 3 and the Spider-Man corner tbh. Just look at the audience demos for these films, especially Wakanda Forever. They are bringing in lots of people who don't watch MCU in general. It's actually why I have confidence in a Shuri-led BP3 and in expanding Shuri and Namor's influence in the upcoming Avengers/cross-over projects. Sure, last November compared to this one is very different for Marvel, but people still showed up big time to see the "supporting cast" of the first film mourning. There's a kind of cultural relevance to Wakanda and its people that sure was build on the relevance of the overall MCU but I feel has gone way beyond that - at least with American audiences.
  2. So The Marvels is gonna have Shazam 2/Flash type of legs after all. Man, what a gigantic flop.
  3. Frozen 2 was WILD af, straight up didn't have a second act. Hope they go full crazy with the sequels.
  4. Kind of safe casting if it's Pascal, but mainly because of how much people like him currently, not because he screams Reed - though I can see him pulling it off. Dev Patel would have been very exciting casting, but I don't know if he'd be down. Think he'd have been even harder to convince than Adam Driver reportedly was.
  5. The creative teams behind Thunderbolts and Blade are enough to make me want to see these projects tbh.
  6. Echo, Deadpool 3 and Agatha are all different enough as projects for the MCU in 2024. Gotta say, I'm pretty excited for this slate. Especially Agatha.
  7. That female % is ROUGH but, very diverse audience, more than usual for Marvel I think. Especially the Asian turnout.
  8. This was the cbm I was the most excited for next year. Five months of reshoots sounds rough. That's another $300M budget incoming for Marvel. Hope everything works out, but the creative team is not as strong as Thunderbolts and Blade on this one.
  9. Safe to say that Eric Martin is gonna be rewriting at least one of the upcoming Avengers movies after Loki s2.
  10. This can still reverse Wonder Woman 1984 itself to 89% let's go higher, further, faster bloggers
  11. Well, the strike is about to end and The Marvels about to get 60% on RT. Throw Iman Vellani out there to promote it with kittens. $100 million opening locked.
  12. Oh, so they were right on the money with that late embargo after all. Feels like we've already been around all the reasons why this is bombing before we even knew it was gonna happen for sure, it feels jarring to get all this talk about what will bomb next and how much. This film almost feels like the culmination of the last couple of years of lack of quality control and oversight over the sheer amount of content produced and Marvel has been taking notes and announcing shifts in their ways since Quantumania.
  13. That one reaction mentioning that the Kree-Skrull conflict gets brought up in the film is promising, I thought they were not gonna address the Skrulls and their own beef with Fury and Cap Marvel at all.
  14. The problem with Carol is that it feels like we haven't seen her at all in 4.5 years. Because we kind of haven't. She has only appeared in the post credits of Shang-Chi and Ms. Marvel.
  15. Deadpool was in between franchises all these years AND his new film, not only is the third in the franchise, but it has several major hooks - one being the fact that this is bringing DP over to the MCU. There were five and a half years between the first and second Doctor Strange films, but he had two major appearances in two gigantic films in between and he appeared in two more films as well. Still, that did lead to his sequel not following up properly on certain threads set by the first film, but that's a different conversation.
  16. So far Loki S2 is the best thing to come out of Marvel Disney+ for me. It gets better with each episode. Hope for a good week for Marvel next week...
  17. Yea, not having fan screenings this weekend to build buzz like they did with GotG ain't very promising. Making Thanos attachments that probably have nothing to do with the film and spots intentionally teasing the leaked post-credit stuff isn't inspiring much hope. I say this as someone generally optimistic about the film and excited for it to some capacity.
  18. Just straight up crazy how different the momentum of the MCU was back when the first film released vs now. Back then, it was an unparalled success, it was at the center of cultural zeitgeist, hype was in uncharted territory, just weeks away from what would become the biggest film ever. A phenomeon like nothing the world had ever seen. The world welcomed Carol's debut to the sound of $455 million! A character most people had never heard about. Cut to now, with Variety putting out a bullshit hit piece with half their claims debunked as clickbait nonsense, because any traction the MCU gets at this point is about how much of a mess it is behind the scenes and how it's being run into the ground. It's the perfect timing for the perfect negativity storm, as Marvel can't put into work their own hype machine properly. There's never been this much negative buzz on Marvel Studios as there's been these last couple of weeks, it's quite crazy. Loki is getting crazier and crazier and is straight up some of the best stuff they put out, but it's living under the dark cover of this enormous cloud.
