    I just want to add that I don`t think shooting will affect TH like it did TDKR or at all. TDKR one happened at the cinema during the movie midnight showing. It was TDKR-related in every aspect. This new shooting is just one unfortunate event that is completely movie unrelated.

    I hope WB immediately removes TH banner from yahoo. It looks relaly tacky above the shooting news.I mena, it isn`t WB fault because they couldn`t know but now it relaly doesn`t look good with all the scenes replayed over and over while Yahoo`s showing a vid with devastated parents.

    I`m with you. Rationale people simply can`t get through extremists on both sides. If you say it`s a good number, loonies scream it isn`t just good it`s OMG most aamzing opening ever, while noonies scream it`s a complete disaster. Just for the reconrd, it`s OK. This is going to have KK run and legs.

    Hedlund is the next Colin Farrell. Works in small movies. Blockbusters eat him up because he doesn`t have charisma to carry a big movie. he was trully awful in TL3 and complete lack of chemsitry with Wilde and Bridges (never for a moment bought them as family) didn`t help. Cillian Murphy`s camo blew him out of water.

    Alrkin presence shows that Argo is liked more than previously thought. Well, it was always liked by has lived in Lincoln and ZDT shadow for some time.Bardem is more likely to break into BSA than Leo and Waltz who are likely to cancel each other out.

    That`s what basically happens in the book as well. In that part of the book, lots of random things happen but nothing essencially happens. It should have been 2 movies and first one cut after the barrell escape. Well, 1 movie would`ve been the best but since that was never an option 2 would have been sufficient. No. She`s the worst. She abuses sheep now:

    Sympathetic villains would absolutely NOT work in Avatar. Parker represented greedy corporations and Quaritch represented mercenaries they often employ to clear up local shit for them. Coffy from Abyss was a different type of character, a patriot with an increasingly paranoid syndrome. Also, Avatar was deliberately women`s movie and female characters were written as stronger. The main deity is female and therefore all 4 women of the movie - Neytiri, Grace, Trudy and Mo`at were strong in their own way. And they also weren`t token women because the movie stablished than in both societies, human and Na`vi, there was equality of genders so none of them was the annoying Mary Sue exception to the rule.And I especially like how he bridged the science and religious mysticism by having Na`vi connection to the nature and ancestors be scientifially explained yet retaining the mystery of something above science. Someone learned the lesson from midichlorinas, that`s for sure.

    You`re wrong about the parents, at least about the mom. Mom totally set up the romance. And she was also the one who saved Jake and Grace, not Neytiri. neytiri left them to die but mom believed in will of Eywa and Jake as the vessel for that will`s fulfilment and saved them. or maybe she was smart enough to figure out they indeed knew their enemies better and could help. Either way, no shortage of strong female characters in this one.

    Avatar was a perfect pulp fiction - naked space princess, marines in distress, lavish alien world with tons of creatures resembling pre-historical ones or dragons. That`s a classic pulp. JCoM books were like that but I guess pulp was beneath Stanton so he opted for generic tortured soul-finds-a-new-home flick. Also, Avatar was gorgeous to look at while JC made Utah look worse than it really does (Utah`s actually gorgeous but not in this movie). Unlike Lawrence of Arabia which made desert look beautiful and terryifying at the same time, cinematography completely fails here. desert neither looked good nor like Mars.

    Originality doesn`t necessary equal better. It`s all about context and many times familiar works better than originality for the sake of being different. POTC:AWE is a prime example of misplaced originality.

    Avatar is very similar to Dune but you completely missed the point of Dune. Dune is a story about the chosen one who becomes a tyrant. And he knows that`s what`s gonna happen but cannot prevent it because everyone around him sees him as a harbinger of hope. It is not a classic hero cyccle and the genius of the book is exactly in that dark turn that his rise tosses the galaxy into religious fanaticism-induces chaos. He becomes even worse than those he fought against.No to mention that the way how Eywa chose Jake and how the Fremen chose Paul (thanks to Bene geserit Missionaria Protectiva that created the "prophecy" in order to keep their control over them) are very different.OTOH, Avatar is Cameron`s statement on War on Terror and subversion of White Messiah trope. Cameron always subverts tropes in his movies if you care to pay attention. It`s been like that since Terminator. Definitely one of the most interesting film-makers around.

    They nominated Chastain so the movie was obviously seen or is she saying she`s got the nom based on hype only? The thing with ZDT is that critics nominated it in Ensamble and it won some Ensambles as well so SAG definitely thought other esnsambles were stronger. It doesn`t mean a huge drawback but considering that Crone is already making excuses it seems like it`s the first bump in the road. DGA and PGA wins will be more telling.

    Except that Avatar obviously did something right since it was such a success while many people have never heard of FernGully. It`s still more compared to dances with Wolves and Pochahontas than FernThingy.

    Amen. For a movie that apaprently lost its appeal, nobody cares about anymore, is stupid,etc it`s still getting lots of debate. Yes, Cameron Conspiracies beat the wildest conspiracy theories. I mena, holy shit people believe he`s waiting for inflation to fudge boxoffice numbers of his new movies. The man owns an asteroid belt. he can always count tickets from collonists just like Paramount counted Puerto Rico. No need to wait for inflation to do the trick. [

    Most unlikable ever = Katee Sucksoff Runner-up = Spiridakos chick from Revolution. Talk about charisma vaccuum that thinks she`s Katniss. Runner-up #2 = talentless git who played Katharine McPhee`s stuck-up british accented boyfriend from Smash. Gosh, what a douchebag! Runner-up 3 = Sarah Wayne Callies from Walking Dead. She`d be #1 if they didn`t out her out of misery beginning of the season.
