Arkin is far from locked especially since Flight (Goodman), Django (Leo, SLJ, Waltz), TH (put Freeman in supporting and - voila - he could score a nom) , ZDT (Edgerton, another actor) haven`t been seen.

Affleck and Spielberg are the only locks at the moment because their movies were seen and buzz is strong enough. Not sold on Russell yet although his movie is locked. But Lawrence is the story more than director. Everything else that hasn`t been seen is a speculation.

Locks are Argo, Lincoln and SLP because they are seen and are getting enough buzz to break top 8-9-10 whatever nominees there will be. Argo and Lincoln are also locks for Director. Gosling is a dick. That`s no secret and it`s the reason why many big directors don`t want to work with him. So he ends up with those new hip ones and his cheerleaders go "oh he`s so ahead of his time" when in reality nobody likes a trouble-maker on the set but big guns have the luxary of ignoring one pricky talent and casting a cooperative another.

I hope he`s right. Musical is beyond amazing so if the movie is just as good it`ll be deserved monster sweep.The fall of Beasts and/or Master opens the door for the blockbuster spot. It`s about how much they are in demand as the top choice for most directors and studios. This is a combination of boxoffice and prestige. So you anbd other Adam Sandler loonies who don`t have Meryl Streep and DDL on A-list are laughable. Sandler movies are shit because nobody offers him anything better. So he may be the King of Comedy but A-list he isn`t because nobody but shit slapstick producers care to have him on board. Which is sad because he is actually talented.Cate Blanchett is more A-list because she is constantly in demand for prestigeous projects and also has LOTR/TH and Indy 4 on her resume so she isn`t avoided by tent-poles either. A list is very VERY short and it means that actors from that list are top of every director`s list regardless of whether they actually end up in those roles. Manhola Dargis hated her in AK and thinks she`s miscast and pretty much every review that likes or dislkies her says that AK is a Costume + Art Direction movie. Costumes and Art Direction STEAL the movie from your overrated "A-lister". There. Please do the homework.
