  1. Yea but DOFP may not exceed X3 or FF6 which is kinda hard on people who are dead set to anoint this as the biggest superhero movie of 2014
  2. Damn, my bad ! Anyway, Fox lineup for the year 2016 ain't that great either coming off a hardcore scifi fantasy SW7 that is bound to be in audience's memory all till March when Prometheus 2 supposedly opens
  3. You are talking about the same audience that made Rise of the Apes a global hit? All superhero movies are kind of scifi anyway. Look at the Iron-Man, Spider-Man, Avengers, or XMen DOFP's global grosses. More contemplative scifis like Matrix Trilogy & Prometheus did sizable business. Remember a movie called Jurassic Park? That one did $626M overseas without 3D or Fake IMAX. Phantom & Sith did $552M and $468M respectively. Those are substantial numbers.
  4. Fox alien/UFO-themed lineup spanning Fall 2015 to Summer 2016 is kinda mad. They have SW7, Prometheus 2 & ID4 II in less than a year. SW7 is not an "alien/UFO" movie per se but it will populated strange creatures from all corners of the galaxy, just like Prometheus 2 where Noomi Rapace & Magneto will go & seek the Engineer's world. Will there be audience fatigue? One of these will tank.
  5. To be honest, the movie is a bit challenging to market. Also the whole alien invasion thing is getting tired, so there is that
  6. I really wish EoT could hit $80M in China but it looks like it'd gross, what , $60M+ here..?
  7. I think we have to wait for Hobbit 3 in December to feel pulse from German box office. It's been a flatline since Wolf of Wall Street
  8. Cancer Girl may not even break the $120M barrier. This looks to have 2.0X multiplier all over it.
  9. Dropzilla, heh. It is cool but cruel
  10. "Stop it, BK, you make us look bad..."
  11. Re: Your sig Love the cat. The dude not so much.
  12. Warner probably spend more money acquiring that (brilliantly creepy choral) 2001 Space Odyssey track by Lygetti than on the script. The movie should not be costing $160M. It should be $40M less.
  13. Yes, yes, Godzilla still can make it to the magic $200M. Some truly beautiful CGI sequences but we all agree the story moves like the hero, lacks focus and more importantly dies when Cranston is put in the body bag. Big mistake by Warner by allowing Heisenberg dies the second time. AMC is thinking of reviving Heisenberg - now that's smart.
  14. EoT suit= realistic, well researched, plausible Iron Man suit=the reason why we go to the movies
  15. Edge of Tomorrow Battle Suit: big, fat & ugly Less than $100M at the box office Iron Man 3 Combat Suit: slim, sexy & gorgeous More than $400M at the box office
  16. You forgot Tom Cruise used to be a great actor in the 80s: 1. Color of Money - I thought this was the best Tom Cruise movie, him playing up his trademark cocky superstar, better than Top Gun, Cocktail. That Scorsese unbroken tracking shot as Tom nails one billiard ball after another as Werewolves of London blares in the background is a forgotten classic scene. 2. Rain Man - This is where he gets serious. Watch this movie again, that Vegas scene is ripped by the makers of The Hangover 3. Jerry Maguire - Well, romantic comedy used to be compelling, and fulfilling. 4. Mission Impossible - that Chunnel scene in the end is still unmatched among big budget blockbuster action movies in terms of intensity, inventiveness, and sheer movie madness. DePalma likes to please his cineaste fans in Cannes with arty, labyrinth thrillers, but he is actually a darker Spielberg incarnate when making traditional mainstream movies (The Untouchables, Carlito's Way - those crazy tracking shots at the train station) 5. Collateral - Tom Cruise unplugged. Has to be on the list, this should be in his resume. Mann is the Man when his doing his urban thriller. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XO4f-JqXG7g
  17. The moment GA saw that tentacled alien cliche and the cheap Iron Man suit knockoff, they just go: "I rather see Cancer Girl..." They should spend more time developing this. What a waste of time, money & talents, Warner....
