  2. So I saw this movie late at night at a theater completely by myself. I mean like I was the only person in the theater I think and really enjoyed it, it was really funny and I could relate alot to alot of the things here like Grindr dating like I think I literally experienced most of those scenarios and it was kind of touching too, not the best movie ever made and maybe little too "political" for it's own good. party for my taste. but overall very solid movie. But the marketing for this film sucked. the trailers were way too explicitly gay for most mainstream heterosexual audience. and saying this was the first ever mainstream "gay film starring gay actors but for mainstream audiences was like saying it was the first African american lead film to featuring black girl eating chips." Like The Birdcage came out over 20 years ago and made OVER $100m in the 90s! like seriously. People are tired of "first ever" they don't mean anything anymore. and it is losing it's marketability. also this is a Rom-Com which is (Sadly) already a struggling genre. and has no stars in the film. which could have helped this movie ALOT. I don't really get the argument that gay actors have to play gay characters, I have nothing against that. but it would be pretty sexy to see Chris Evans and Henry Cavil make out in a movie., if they wanted this movie to make money that's what they needed. heck that would turn some straight guys on I think. Billy Eichner is a decent enough actor don't get me wrong, and mildly good-looking even, but he isn't a hunk and doesn't have the Charism or star power to carry a film financially. And Luke Macfarlane is well pretty charming actually and cute as fuck, but nobody knows who the heck he is. Also blaming people for being homophobic is really low saying that your movie bombed, if you can't even get your "Super important" gay film to make $5m on opening weekend than a lot of gays didn't see it either, I'm not saying homophobia wasn't a factor, but it certainly wasn't the only one.
  3. Yeah this movie was so bizarre. and not in a good why. anyways can't get into details without spoiler it. but wow what a letdown and I didn't hate Halloween Kills, but that was already a pretty big letdown.
  4. WOW just wow. Episode 6 was so great! how does this show just manage to keep getting better?! everything with the lightshow the tension and that amazing action sequences at the end.
  5. Yeah I think he could easily go there and it can be done well. but I think it would be interesting to see a redemption arch of from one of the baddies here. he is definitely not a good guy, but he has such good character work and acting from this guy I could see him going anywhere. and he is kind of a victims of his circumstances, even though he so far seems to have chosen the wrong path.
  6. I'm honestly not sure he is evil. he is company man who prided himself of righting the wrong of his fallen employees. I think he will probably go after Andor and possibly Join the empire. but what if he actually ends up joining the rebel alliance?? maybe after joining the empire...
  7. This is the Star Wars I've been waiting for! it's so good. Ep 4 being my favorite so far (Minor Spoilers ahead): LOVED finally seeing Imperial Era Coruscant. don't know why it took them sooo long to see the center of The Empire. And Mon Montha's backstory basically about shepherding the start of the Rebellion, I ate up every scene with her. I only hope it dives in deep enough. I'm really interested to see where Syril Karn's story goes. one of the most interesting original character's I've seen in a while.

  9. Can't Wait for Season 2! first season was magic. really hope they do a follow up episode to the Ninth Jedi.
  10. Yeah Ep 4 was easily the best episode, that ending score was really great.
  11. Yeah I took my mom to see it, who is 70 and she really liked it. it was very good film.
  12. watched ep 3. while I like aspects of it. The character of Galadriel just seems to get worse and worse. She does not act like and elf and certainly not someone with a thousand years experience in the world, if she were a teenager or someone in their early 20s maybe I could understand that. but she basically just insulted the Queen of Númenor upon their first meeting and then asked for a ship at the same time, she is an elf and suppose to be a military leader and as such should have some sort of social skill and political skills. this was one of galadriel from the books main strengths and it's not really the actress fault she is doing an ok enough job, but I can blame the writers, directors and showrunners, for their sloppy and poor writing. they just made her look outright stupid, or at best incredibly naive. Anyways the city of Numenor looks incredible and Halbrand is one of the most intriguing characters so far. but I'm starting to have very mixed feelings about this show.
  13. I honestly don't remember that armor, thought it had way more detail. So I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. it's a 8 hour long season. and so far I like it. it's not a masterpiece but I am already invested and do like several characters alot, (Durin, Eldrond and Nori so far are my favorites). I'm getting really tired of the "absolute garbage or total masterpiece crowd" just because something isn't a 10/10 doesn't mean it's garbage. I mean it's fine you have that opinion, apparently a lot of people do. I really can't say how much I will love this show by the end. it's a solid 8 right now though and I hope it only improves. that armor is bad though.
  14. I think they were wanting to make it an annual thing. and the results would put to yes. while studios may have not gotten a ton out of it. it's great for movie theaters who make most of their profit from concessions anyways. Not to mention a lot more people saw films than would have otherwise. will it be the same weekend next year if it does become annual? my thing would be if this is every labor day weekend Saturday, is that most major studios would shy away from releasing anything to big on this date. but it kind of makes since, because aside from "Shang Chi" labor weekend has been kind of a dead zone for box office anyways,

  16. I drove almost an hour after getting off work to see "Three Thousand years of Longing" it was not playing locally and I really wanted to see it and take advantage of the $3 ticket day.
  17. So I did some tabulating of what the movies would have grossed over the weekend at the Saturday prices been normal price (I multiplied sat gross by 4, which is close their their normal prices give for take a dollar I believe). I know had they been regular price they these movies wouldn't have grossed as much. but this is just to see how successful Cinema day really was and how crazy attendance really was Saturday. I went to the movies myself that day expecting it to be fairly quite and the theater was PACKED and I had to wait in line for 15 minutes. Top Gun Maverick $13,300,000 / $14,800,000 Super Pets $13,300,000 / $14,800,000 Spider-Man No way home $12,700,000 / $14,300,000 Bullet Train $12,600,000 / $14,000,000 The Invitation $11,100,000 / $12,100,000 Beast $9,100,000 / $9,800,000 Minions 2 $8,600,000 / $9,400,000 Thor Love and Thunder $6,300,000 / 6,900,000 Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero $5,700,000 / $6,100,000 Jaws $5,000,000 / $5,400,000 Top 10 3/4 day totals $97,700,000 / $107,600,000 Where the Crawdads Sing $4,100,000 / $4,600,000 Nope $3,800,000 / $4,100,000 Three Thousand years of Longing $3,600,000 / $3,900,000 Honk For Jesus save your soul $3,200,000 / $3,500,000 Elvis $2,400,000 / $2,600,000 Gigi and Nate $2,400,000 / $2,600,000 Orphan: First Kill $1,600,000 / $1,800,000 Breaking $1,500,000 / $1,600,000 Jurassic World 3 $1,100,000 / $1,200,000 Bodies Bodies Bodies $1,050,000 / $1,150,000 Fall $600,000 / $650,000 The Black Phone $500,000 / $550,000 Easter Sunday $400,000 / $450,000 Mrs Harris Goes to Paris $300,000 / $325,000 overall totals of most films $121,800,000 / $136,600,000 This makes Labor day weekend the most attended weekend since Nope released on July 22nd. all that from one crazy day too. Interesting thing here is "Spider-Man" was actually not the most attended film of the weekend because a lot of it's gross came from Friday and it's Saturday was actually quite a bit lower than Top Gun and Super Pets.
  18. I actually assumed she fought some throughout her lifetime. I'm just not sure she would have lead armies for years and years as a military leader. but thanks for that tidbit, it does give me a bit more insight into her character. and makes the writers of the show decision a bit more grounded than I thought actually. aside from the the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit books I have not really delved into his works that much. I tried reading the silmarillion a few times on paper and audio and it is a chore to me. interesting at parts, but a chore. and kind of confusing.
  19. Are they not allowed to mention the gods at all? i'm not sure that is the case, they have already mentioned the Silmarils.
  20. It's odd they are complaining it is slow. when FotR was 3 hours long and took the hobbits an hour to leave the shire. Anyways. I really liked the first two episodes. I agree the first episode is pretty slow. and there were a few things I didn't love. I'm not crazy about what they did with Galadriel, doesn't feel like Tolkien would have her lead armies and go that direction with her. but it is more like a nitpick and she can improve with time. I honestly feel like I'm living in an alternate reality with some of these "fan" reactions. Are they really mad that the pacing is slow or that they cast like 4 black characters in a show of 20??? or that Disa doesn't have a beard??? I love Love lord of the rings and yeah maybe I'm a bigger fan of the movies than the books. but I love the books too. but I don't know are Tolkien super fans really this petty and toxic??? Also was anyone really expecting this to be as good as the movies? I know I wasn't. I am just happy to go back to middle earth in what is so far a pretty intriguing series.
  21. Yes, I've watched a few channels on TB that I can't anymore, because they do come across as at least a little racist. I fine with and think diverse casting is in most cases good as long as it doesn't take from / override the story. I do think we need to get to a point where we can cast who we like and not have to worry about being mistaken for racist/ phobic simply because there is a certain demographic is left out, not everything can be a huge ensemble. I don't think Tolkien would have gone that direction I am seeing with Galadriel. but he did write Ewyon's story and that was pretty ahead of it's time I would say. so a female warrior is not imo. outside of Tolkien's beliefs for lotr. plus Galadriel taking up of arms, seems to be a temporary feild for her character and when you live as long as her. it's not really that much of a stretch to think she has seen some action. But I really don't have a problem with lotr casting as far as diversity is concerned. and am holding any judgement until I see the show.
  22. Ep 6 was fantastic. have you seen the bonus 11th episode? it's probably my third favorite episode after 5 and 6.
