Anyone else think that's a brilliant number for Red, considering where it landed at the BO last year. It's smashed the films that finished around it such as Due Date, Social Network and Unstoppable, Great result!
I'd put money on 50/50 doing better than Moneyball just because of the screen count. Also, has anyone heard of The Awakening? My cineworld's getting it on a single show per night basis and I know nothing about it.
Very impressive for Breaking Dawn, great hold for AC which I will forever struggle to understand as no one seemed to be enjoying it as much as I anticipated. Pretty much to be expected for Immortals after it's US drop, but dear god did I have fun watching it.
Spidey 3 or Shrek 3. ROTF is bad, but it entertains me. Spidey makes me cringe, espescially when he runs past the US flag, and shrek is just... Actually, shrek easily wins.
Not to mention the OTHER xmas movie on Dec 9th. Can't wait to get me some Harold and Kumar again! I doubt it will bear any influence on AC, but a man can dream can't he.
I've seriously only heard one person say disappointing, and anywhere from great to amazing from about ten other people. The reaction I saw in eastbourne today was pretty good as well.
I'm loving how early people are showing up for BD at my local good theatre, 45 mins before showtime they started showing up (15 mins ago). Did seem like I got a few funny looks sitting on my own in the lobby. Then again it's a guy going on his own to a girl skewing film or a guy going on his own to a family christmas film. No win scenario tbh.
I know this is the US numbers thread, but this just popped through on twitter: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt 1 actually did £6.3m in UK yesterday, not £6.2m as I previously reported. So, slightly more amazing.Aka, the biggest single day in British box office history once the Deathly Hallows are removed. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me.
From Charles Gant's twitter: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt 1 actually did £6.3m in UK yesterday, not £6.2m as I previously reported. So, slightly more amazing.Looks like we have a new Single day champ once you remove Potter from the equation. That's bigger than eclipse's 2 preview days last summer.
Believe me, there's no comparison. TDK is the greatest IMAX experience i've had thus far, and I had to wait 7 months after release to get it. And it was still a sell out!
