  1. From Charles Gant's twitter: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt 1 actually did £6.3m in UK yesterday, not £6.2m as I previously reported. So, slightly more amazing.Looks like we have a new Single day champ once you remove Potter from the equation. That's bigger than eclipse's 2 preview days last summer.
  2. Believe me, there's no comparison. TDK is the greatest IMAX experience i've had thus far, and I had to wait 7 months after release to get it. And it was still a sell out!
  3. I got that email as well, it's already going pretty damn quick on OD!
  4. Knowing the way Nikki's been recently, I call $69m as the actual number.
  5. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part IHastings Odeon 4, UK11/18/2011 19:30175/175About 95% female, which shocked me tbh (there were more men at eclipses midnight)Trailers:New years eve: lots of chatterThe woman in black: a lot of chatterTitanic: huge amount of talk, phenomenal reaction. Fucker gave me damn goosebumps on the big screen! Damn you Jim!Mi4: some chatMovie:Its wierd. Its mad. Its odd. Its great. Then again, I am a twi-hard, and unashamed of it. The plot is actually less daft than it is in the book, streamlining it has really helped it a great deal, as for me the weakest book has become one of the stronger films. The acting is uniformly better, especially from Lautner who actually managed to successfully show some emotion. Pattinson managed to do a good job as well, and Stewart did a great job combining weak and strong willed in the same character. Effects are a step up from the last two, especially in the case of a bella wasting away, done just as well as Captain America. My main gripe with the film is pathetic, stupid and nitpicky, but the final shot is directly ripped from Avatar. 99%. The one percent is that bella isn't blue. Anyway, it's going to be a long year's wait, but it's got a strong foundation to build upon. Not DH1 strong, but strong none the less. The crowd were a lot more rowdy than I was expecting. Cheers at the BBFC card, cheers when jacob first to his shirt off, when they first showed edward, when they first showed emmett (?!) it was a fun experience though, and the crowd seemed to lap it up. Should hold at least as well as the others, would be nice to hope for longer legs, but thats a pipedream.B
  6. All I know is that the atmosphere in the theatre for this is electric at the moment with the curtain seconds away from rising. I'm so glad the UK audience is more subdued than the stereotypical US one (though I do want to experience that).
  7. I just know my local cineworld is doing gangbusters so far, and my local shitty odeon has my showing tomorrow evening sold out.
  8. Tell me about it with the weather, it contributed to Tron: Legacy's piss poor gross. Say what you like about it, but 10 mil was too little for it, compared to little fockers which I walked from. Do you see anything breaking out like Black Swan in January?
  9. Does it? Last I checked, it said the 26th. Not complaining though. Seems like we're in for a killer christmas season atm.
  10. I wouldn't mind MI4 moving to the 21st, would love an IMAX trip for my 20th b'day. Even so, it makes sense. Means it would get the jump on GWTDT. Besides, it's only competition at that point for IMAX screens will be PiB (Digital) and HF2 (70mm). At this point there is very little for them to lose, and everything to gain.
  11. Casper the friendly ghost movie. Of all the damn films fron that era, that was my first theatre experience. Not fair!
  12. My personal favourite film fluctuates between Back to the Future and Blazing Saddles. I find it impossible to call anything the greatest. But it's easy when it comes to the worst film ever: Shark Night 3D
  13. I'm guessing their strategy for The Muppets is to get a run similar to Tangled's from early this year. I am right, that's the week before half term starts right? I have no idea about these things anymore, my first awareness is that I can go to early screenings when my cineworld times update. Curse leaving college.
  14. I made the mistake of booking for the closer, shittier odeon when the half 8 at the cineworld sold out, I should have known they would have added more shows. But my show at the usually quiet odeon is sold out, and the others are vastly above average in fullness.
  15. Shocked that looking at my local cineworld that they've already sold out the half 8 show on Saturday. I'm pretty sure the other two didn't manage that. This is going to be a crazy weekend though, in my six screen it's showing every hour from half 11 to half 11. Midnight sold out, half 5 and half 8 sold out. This is beating eclipse and i'm sure it's rivalling new moon.
  16. 1) The Hunger Games2) The Muppets3) The Dark Knight Rises4) The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo5) The Pirates!6) The Avengers7) Piranha 3DD8) The Amazing Spiderman9) American Reunion10) Wrath of the Titans
  17. I did kinda have my jaw drop with the ending of Saw 3D. Yes it's a stupid franchise, and yes the twist has been discussed on different sites over the years and been hinted at in the films, but them actually using that as the ending shocked me. Pathetic reasoning I know, and I doubt many would agree, but that's just me.
  18. They all seem like a pretty smart bet to me, would definity reduce the clutter around, especially when there's new numbers every few hours when a blockbuster comes out.
  19. My dad forced me into reading the first book back in the summer of 2000. Hated him for it at first, but ended up loving it.
  20. I think first time I noticed it was when I kept an eye on RotK when I was 12. It wasn't until mid '04 that it became a proper hobby. I still remember my disappointment at watchmen's grosses everwhere. Even though I fluked getting in underage 3 times on O/W it didn't help it go anywhere in the UK.
  21. Arthur and Immortals were likely taking up the biggest screens though. At some point this weekend i'll be trying to contribute to immortals, just sucks having to choose between travelling to a decent cinema or settling for the shittiest one in britain.
  22. I'd say around the same number as new moon, which constitutes a slight attendance drop, but still strong.
  23. Consider yourself lucky, we in the land that started it all have to wait until December bloody 2nd.
  24. The Lord of the Rings and Bourne trilogies for £11/$16 a piece. I love christmas online bargains!!!!
