  1. I think you're right — he doesn't seem to wear serious characters well. He's a jokey fratboy at heart. I expect his agents are looking for more comedic roles for him as we speak.
  2. That was a weird movie. The first 20 minutes were a totally different tone and genre to what followed afterwards. Like the Thomas Crown Affair suddenly turning into The Fugitive.
  3. Ass Creed will crash and burn. Passengers will do better, but Rouge 1 has the 'adults with a kid in tow' market firmly sown up.
  4. Just give me a suspenseful cat-and-mouse setup surrounded by atmospheric sets. This doesn't need an elaborate mythology.
  5. It's certainly not her fault but I find the massive age gaps between her and a lot of her onscreen love interests distracting (11 years separate her and Chris Pratt, in case you were wondering). She was way, way too young to be playing her character in American Hustle.
  6. I love the way the Rock has stolen this franchise from right under Vin Diesel's nose.
  7. Rihanna's character meets Drake, who mistakes her for the real Rihanna and gives the gang the backstage pass they need to carry out the heist.
  8. As a straight male I still find Gosling more sexually compelling than Stone.... ........ ... erm, anyway. I hate musicals but could very well end up seeing this, which bodes well for its box office overall.
  9. This feels like it's going to fall into that remake void of "can't tell if it's paying homage to the original or brutally deconstructing it." Trailer suggests it leans towards the latter but I'm not sure that's what people want from this.
  10. I must say I've never seen a thread on here that's so enamored with a film's press tour.
  11. I mean sure, if you ask me whether they should make more adult dramas with a decent budget then I'll obviously say 'yes, absolutely!' But realistically, they have to be good because WOM matters so much more.
  12. Still unclear about why the lavish bar exists: is the ship designed to be lived on rather than merely be a mode of transport?
  13. Well, what I mean by 'old-timey' was that it was a truly grand Hollywood production, with lavish sets and practical effects, etc. Don't know if this follows that tradition, but sci-fi can definitely be that.
  14. Titanic got good contemporary reviews, in fairness. Critics appreciated the old-timey epic scope of it all.
