  1. Looks trashier than the source material (as expected) but I'm pleasantly surprised by how full-on the production design is. Bodes well for the prospects of the new Blade Runner movie.
  2. You're a fan? I'm friends with the drummer. Anyway, that trailer was better than I thought it be. Hope the film's good.
  3. Yup, the music choice still sucks. It's strange that they've made the modern thread of the games — the part of it people hated the most — into the main part of the story. Bombs away, and I hate saying that because Fassbender deserves a headline hit.
  4. Haven't seen it, but FilmCritHulk has done a long-read that absolutely lays into it. http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2016/10/12/luke-cage-netflix-and-the-death-of-episodic-tv (TLDR: the episodic plotting is terrible, you just don't notice because you binge-watch.)
  5. Given the guns in the corner it looks like a game of Russian Roulette is about to start. Ford has heroically volunteered Scott to go first.
  6. True, but it doesn't hurt that no city on Earth is as in love with its own mythology as Boston (and I say that as a fan of the place).
  7. It won't be that big, but going by the trailer it would be a completely different movie if it wasn't rated R. Certainly didn't hurt American Pie, lest we forget.
  8. I always thought it was weird how big a deal the Boston bombing became in the American psyche given the (thankfully) few number of fatalities, but maybe that's just the European in me speaking. That shit really does seem to have become the norm here.
  9. "This dopey thriller boasts plenty of potentially juicy plot points but is consistently undermined by an earnest execution that doesn't understand what a convoluted hoot it has on its hands." For some reason this RT line made me chuckle.
  10. I assume, reading the reviews, that they didn't change the ending — which was almost universally regarded as a letdown in the book.
  11. I keep thinking of what I'd like to see in this movie and all the directions it could go, but this invariably leads me to remember how God-awful its predecessor was and I get mildly annoyed. Just give me non-shitty characters and dino moments that act as more than cheap fan service and that's a good start.
  12. Blockbuster scores today are undoubtedly terrible for the most part. Marvel isn't the only offender, but it doesn't rise above the crap either.
  13. Found the trailer mildly intriguing until all the action started (and yes, the production design looks horrible). I'm a bit torn because the film looks like dross but on the other hand I can't help but root for 'original' sci-fi in movies these days.
  14. I thought for a second it was going to be a romantic comedy, but McConaughey's appearance put paid to that. Also, the guy who plays Jonah in Veep will never ever be taken seriously in anything.
