  1. The US is on course to be epicenter of the virus in the developed world. Both peoples' guts and brains will be in agreement when it comes to summer cinema visits. If people accept WB might move the release date it follows they already accept this is true.
  2. I'd be worried if I was WB. July seems far away but it's going to be a long time before people feel safe going back into cinemas. Fairly certain this will move down the line.
  3. Release it next year. I thought Bond was being smart moving to November but I'm starting to doubt things will be close to normal even by then. The year as we knew it is gone.
  4. There seem to be people on here who vaguely assume this will all end as quickly as it ramped up. It won't. China is still in lockdown, because lockdowns only work when they last a long time. And most other countries haven't even started yet.
  5. I'll say one thing: bunging it onto Disney+ and massively increasing uptake of that service seems a much less wacky idea today than it did just a week ago.
  6. ^ Madness. The biggest actor in Hollywood gets the virus and they announce the fucking LA premiere the next day.
  7. China is not the world. Things are just getting started in the US and Europe.
  8. Nah, they'll just buy Warner Brothers. ETA: to the people reacting earnestly to this: yes, it was a joke (albeit a pointed one).
  9. They're not doing it/gonna do it like China's doing. Don't hold yourself hostage to fortune like Trump!
  10. China went on full totalitarian lockdown just to stabilise the spread. Most other countries aren't going to do that. This will not be done and dusted by mid-April.
  11. It's currently trending at 7 in the UK, FWIW. Obviously a busy news day.
  12. So they're really sticking with the release date, then? [insert Morgan Freeman Good Luck gif]
  13. Someone on twitter joked a few days ago "enjoy the last week of talking about anything other than the coronavirus." That also applies to box office. It's going to have a material affect on movies' revenues, it'd be crazy to ignore it.
  14. You also have to contend with the fact that the Trump administration is absolutely terrible at dealing with this. The normal expectations for a developed nation coping with a pandemic don't apply to the US.
  15. It won't be any better than the period Bond decided was bad enough to move from. But if this doesn't move I guess Disney has decided the trade-off is tolerable.
  16. How has this not moved yet? It's like Disney's playing a doomed game of chicken.
  17. Hard to argue with the pedigree of the producer, but... ehhhhhh. As a fan of the game I'm not sure what I'm meant to be excited about. It's already so filmic.
  18. I wonder if the extra 7 months will result in a tighter (or longer!) edit. What director wouldn't want to use the time to tinker just a bit more...
  19. I don't think that would have made any difference. It's an MCU superhero movie. I doubt people watching it solely to get their fill of Bond/M:I spy shenanigans. Any yes, they're idiots if they don't move it. The situation will be considerably worse in a month.
  20. Can't believe this will end up coming out almost a whole year later than originally scheduled, but I'm glad it moved back to winter. Bond movies should be a winter event.
  21. *reactive (Sorry, but 'reactionary' being used incorrectly is my internet pet-hate.)
  22. Gotta feel sorry for this film. After all the pre-production shit and delays it went through it finally releases in a major pandemic.
  23. I like Mangold but I just can't get excited for an almost 80 year-old Indy, in the same way I'd struggle to get excited about an almost 80 year-old Bond.
  24. I'm not actually convinced the original trio will make much difference. We've already had Goldblum back, that wad has been shot. However if this film embraces the dumb, all-out carnage JW1 promised but never really delivered on then it could be the best of the trilogy by default.
