  1. Obviously us box office observers are used to trailer trailers, but apparently this format is new to the many British journalists I follow on twitter who can't seem to believe this is a thing. At least people are talking about it, I guess?
  2. Ahh, good old trailers for trailers. But hey, who am I kidding. Bond, somehow, still gets me excited.
  3. At this point I'd see any MCU film with a known character getting less than a billion as an underperformance. Yeah, she doesn't have any superpowers and it sometimes feels like they're making the film as an obligation, but the Marvel brand is just too strong now.
  4. Yeah, crazy number for the Joker in the UK. I knew when my nearly 70 year old Mum mentioned being interested in seeing it that something big was brewing. She wouldn't touch comic book movies with a barge-pole normally.
  5. Nah, it's definitely suffered a downward shift. The overwhelming consensus at the time was borderline ecstatic. "The fun of TA1 with the high-mindedness of TDK," etc. I'm not trying to start a flame war - it's a three year old movie, who really cares - but hindsight hasn't been particularly kind given Marvel has basically done the same thing but better since then.
  6. I'm a tad relieved Civil War's stock has dropped so much. I like bits and pieces of the MCU but I knew even at the time that movie was absolute hot mess. Marvel's "the gang's all here!" reach really exceeded its grasp with that one.
  7. Ah, I see we can add 'subverts expectations' and 'original' to Futurist's trigger phrases ('R-rating' is already accounted for).
  8. Well up for this. I'm a sucker for bad whodunnits, so one that's actually good has my money.
  9. It would certainly be a nice 'fuck you' to Johnson's critics who thought TLJ would kill his career if this went big. Talk about a quick turnaround.
  10. Oh, so the title actually was after the Radiohead song. Thought that'd be too obvious to be true.
  11. It's a testament to Bale's talent that a year after that rant leaked he won an Oscar. That would have killed almost any other actor's career stone dead. (The youtube remixes and parodies probably helped by making it funny.)
  12. Was DiCaptrio award-worthy in OUATIH? I've yet to see the film but I don't recall reviews going out of their way to rave about him.
  13. It's a film you'll have seen parodied a million times even if you didn't know it. Ditto for a lot of other Kubrick movies.
  14. Good for FvF, happy Mangold has another hit on his hands. Bale continues to play his post-Batman career well too.
