  1. Even if they want to help The Hero, they could be categorized as "good" if they had their own distinct arc that isn't half-assed like Wyldstyle's in Lego. Being show-stealers like Dory helps too.
  2. I wasn't talking about that article in particular but the fact that JK has admitted "regretting" Hermione/Ron and now sites like Mashable are twisting Skeeter's words to mean Rowling's opinions too. And maybe they aren't all that wrong seeing how she had admitted that a Harry/Hermione pairing would've been a better idea herself. So this looks like another nod to the annoying Harry/Hermione shippers.
  3. I think Dory is the best example of a female supporting character to a male lead or leads done right.

  5. Yup. But I don't like that JK has given into the Hermione/Ron haters and keeps second guessing her choice. Hermione + Ron is a good coupling. The main problem was not developing Ginny or her relationship with Harry much at all. The dissatisfaction with Ginny's characterization makes many shippers thirst for Harry/Hermione. What JK should have done was make Ginny an equally appealing and fleshed out character as the main trio. She doesn't need to regret her decision to pair Hermione with Ron. They are a cute couple and it makes sense why they would be drawn to each other. Harry/Hermione are more brother/sister anyway.
  6. It's not a short story as such but a Daily Prophet article written by Rita Skeeter. http://mashable.com/2014/07/08/harry-potter-j-k-rowling-new-facts/?utm_cid=mash-com-fb-main-link
  7. Given the recent turn of events, it's hilarious imagining this figure as Empire in the game.
  8. Fight Club ending was epic, WTH? Pixies fan for life!
  9. Made possible by Littlefinger, whose unrequited love and faithfulness for Cat leads him to make the ultimate sacrifice like Severus Snape. He's just pretending to be a diabolical traitor to fool the Lannisters. He actually wants Cat to be happy with her family is all. Such an inspirational epitome of selflessness.
  10. The Kill Bill volumes are pretty great examples. When it comes to minority characters who, you know, actually DO shit and are greater in number than the token digit, the Fast and Furious series are good examples too.
  11. Great observation, Ruthie. You perfectly identified why I was meh over Scarlett in IM2 but was then totally taken by surprise in TA. Subconsciously I blamed the actress, but it is obvious that it was the writing and direction of the character that made all the difference in the world. ScarJo is a competent actress who is as good as her director and script are.
  12. Just watched Beetlejuice for the very first time. I agree with Roger Ebert's review, it should have focused more on the Maitlands' relationship. Beetlegeuse feels like an ancillary character but gosh that scenery chewing by Micheal Keaton is glorious! Catherine O'Hara puts in a fun and overlooked performance too.
  13. Maybe because she feels trapped in the body of a mermaid and in her world like a trans person?? What do her material possessions and standing as a sea princess matter if she is unhappy and feels nobody understands her? "Wouldn't you think I'm the girl who has everything?" signifies her plight perfectly. Triton destroying her human treasure trove = a parent throwing a fit over discovering his trans son's stash of dresses and all things girly and wrecking it, right in front of his horrified and pleading child. If the movie had been made now, these themes would have been more obvious and slightly more on the nose like "Let It Go". Anyways, there is one other reason why Ariel is highly underrated and an aspect nobody talks about much: (Click) Make it TWICE actually!
  14. There would've been no Slushy Queen then. This summer is fine especially considering that it's winter at the BO. In trying times like these, the denizens of BOF need distractions more than ever!
  15. I for one can't wait for Khal Drogo to come to Westeros and OWN everyone left, right and center!
  16. Emma looks like a classy 50's starlet out on a vacation. Whoa @ Andrew's rapid hair growth.
