Wkend #s: 82.5 DM2, 29.4 TFR, 25 Heat, 19.6 MU

We keep the entire weekend in one thread. The numbers get updated in the title per the latest. Tomorrow morning it'll get renamed "Weekend Estimates". This reduces clutter in the forum and cross-talk between multiple threads.

If only we could reduce the clutter in the titles now.

271M....

29M left for 300M.

It should make 5M in dailys and next weekend we will see how it does(loses ALL IMAX screens to Pacific Rim).

At this point IMAX is no longer a huge factor anyway.

I'm pretty sure IMAX takes a bigger percentage of the gross as every week passes by.

Get some sleep. If the threads too big, make it small. Pretend it's an Island out in the ocean. Can you see it?

Random Fact about Spider-Man. WTF is up with that theater count? It kept the playing in the same amount of theaters for 6 weeks. It even increased on Week 4.

STAR TREK did the same. It opened in over 3,800, increased during the Memorial weekend and was still at over 3,200 on its 5th week.

It was that huge, and things were different back then.  There wasn't a big/blockbuster movie almost every/every other week of the summer like there is now, so huge blockbusters like this were kept around longer.  TPM was the same thing in '99, 6 weeks of the same or more theater count (week 6 it was actually in more theaters than week 1!).  Closest since has been TDK, which had 4 weeks over 4,000 theater count, and Avatar, which increased its theater count in weeks 2 and 3 and hardly lost significant theaters in its first 2 months of release (but obviously its hard to compare Avatar to anything).

Wait, just checked and Titanic is stupid crazy...it increased its theater count every week for like 4 months! lol

I thought it could hold better than that still..,

Well, MU was fantastic! :D

Hope that number improves a little.

Yeah, just saw DM2 and was slightly disappointed. Too by-the-numbers for my liking, despite being fun. MU was better. Sad to see it fall so bad. Hope it increases.

I didn't really like the first DM, so I'll probably not see the 2nd. Maybe when it gets to Redbox. Both Monsters movies were infinitely better than DM, imo.

i hate myself right now , i should have watched a movie ike i had intended , instead i read a book someone gave me ....

nicholas sparks "the best of me" i cannot believe i stayed up to read that maddening piece of a novel ughhh

i'm so mad i could scream but its 3.25am WTFFFFFFFFFF

YOU THINK I'D KNOW IT WAS A BAD IDEA but surprisingly i had never read one of his books even though i've seen a few films based on his books like the notebook, a walk to remember and dear john

i will never ever ever read a book by him again , it was a blatant pile up of pathos upon pathos, near the end i could tell where things we're going but i kept hoping i might be proven wrong alas ...and if it wasnt enough he piled on an extra dose of pathos ughhh

i actually threw the book when i was done and kicked it , yeah i'm that mad ...

this reminded me of danielle steel another writer i cannot stand , i got a book of hers for xmas when i was 14 ish  and it made me so mad i give the book away to the public library and i never read another book by her, who does this shit to their characters who...no less in a romantic novel

hmmm suddenly i'm reminded of our dear GRRM but he's another cake as his books aren't romance base!

ugh going to sleep should have watch the film which as it turned out was "the place beyond the pines" pffff

sorry about OT  can't think now if i should post this in book section i'll do it but i figure this is the thread that usually goes in twilight zone in middle of the night

There's an added element of romance in DM2 which is absent in DM, so if you are into romance, you may check out DM2. But yeah, chances are great you won't be impressed by DM2 if you were meh about DM.
