Today's Movies:

Spy Kids 3: Game Over - Holy crap, this was terrible. And apparently was Ricardo Montalban's final live action role. Sad.

The Addams Family - The acting is pretty great, but I Sonnenfeld is a pretty bad director.

The Tigger Movie - Surprisingly good, although it's a bit too fantastic in the climax for a Pooh film.

Today's movies:

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - Removed from childhood, this is extremely weird. It reeks of a Mary Poppins knock off: less charming and inventive, and the children characters are more annoying. It's also surprisingly based on a novel by Ian Fleming. (Truly Scrumptious would fit right in as a classic Bond Girl name.) Somehow, the thing lasts nearly 2.5 hours, so it's excessively bloated. The fantasy plot that takes up the latter half is mostly terrible, but the Sherman Brothers' songs are fun and catchy.

The Fox and the Hound - Not the worst of Disney's Dark Age, but definitely one of the studio's weaker efforts.

Today's movies:

Event Horizon - Unimaginably stupid execution of what could have been a neat idea. Not even enjoyably bad.Prozac Nation - Despite a strong performance from Christina Ricci, it never really gets engrossing.View from the Top - A Romcom that doesn’t seem either romantic or funny. The Prince of Egypt - Some iffy script decisions in the first half don’t undermine the great animation and music.Brother Bear 2 - Pretty good, for a direct-to-video Disney sequel.

Today's movies:

Kon-Tiki - Amazing. Another film I need to show my friends at some point.Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away -Filming Cirque is like filing a magic act: the simple fact that it’s not live removes a lot of the wonder. When you add in all the tools of filmmaking (cuts, zooms, slo-mo), it makes it seem even less amazing.Big Trouble in Little China - Not great, but surprisingly good for an American-made martial arts flick. Deserved cult status.Mulan II - Doesn’t have the scope of the first, with some cringing story choices, but still isn’t bad. It’s always nice when Lea Salonga gets to sing.
