Jay Beezy
As a fan of Compton, Italian Job. and Friday, (I even find The Negotiator and Law Abiding Citizen to be alright) I would be fine with Gray. Plus it will be a reunion with Statham from Italian Job and Johnson from Be Cool. Don't forget A Man Apart with Diesel. So he's worked with the big bald trifecta before on separate films. RichWS
The Negotiator is one of those movies HBO played all the time when I was 13-14 years old. I have a certain fondness for it.

BadAtGender
I dig it. I was going to say that this would probably give Gray the highest grossing film directed by an African American, but I think he already has that, since SoC outearned Tim Story's Fantastic Four. The Futurist
Also, Straight Outta Compton was developped at Universal.
AniNate
I'm slightly more ok with that choice than I would've been pre Compton
MovieMan89
Phew. That was a close call between some bad directors at the helm. On why Gray is probably a decent choice, I think the Italian Job is the best evidence, not SOC.
Ethan Hunt
The Italian Job is kinda fun... But yeah... Its also kinda not fun...

kowhite
The Italian Job is kinda fun... But yeah... Its also kinda not fun... It's really by the numbers. Car chase is fun, but it's...really...not even nearly as good and zany as the OG Italian Job. And the rest is really standard. But it's not bad...just...generic. It's fun watching Norton really sell the fact he's just fulfilling his contract and doesn't give a shit though.

Watch it back to back with The Score for the full experience of Norton going through the motions. It's kinda a testament to his acting skill that even just doing that he's still enjoyable. The Futurist
Norton never fully materialized in some aspects, a great actor but probably under the radar of most GA.

BadAtGender
Norton never fully materialized in some aspects, a great actor but probably under the radar of most GA. His biggest film is The Incredible Hulk. Just imagine if he'd gotten along with the Marvel suits.
