Indian Box Office Thread | Jawan overtakes Pathaan, becomes highest grossing Indian movie of 2023

Recommended Posts

Ok so I saw Dangal back when it broke out in China and was one of my favorite movies that year.

But I was browsing Netflix earlier and saw that the Baahubali movies were there and thought "why not?"

Now (after watching them both back to back lmao) I wonder HOW THE HELL DID THIS GO UNNOTICED ALL OVER THE WORLD? This was some Star Wars / LOTR / Avengers level. Seriously, give that director a Hollywood blockbuster now (or give him that kind of budget and a proper WW release).

It blows my mind how we don't care about foreign (aka not in English) blockbusters (South Korea's ones are also top notch) when most of the WW gross always comes from non-English speaking countries anyway. I'm glad that China has given Indian movies a bigger platform lately.

Now they you mentioned SW, it was exactly like that to India what SW is to USA in terms of hype.

First one did really well, got the attention of other states other than only it's state. And second part blew up all over India, became a phenomenon.

It now stands as 4th biggest hit in history of Indian Cinema which was considered impossible for modern era movies considering increasing prices & decreasing footfalls but that movie managed it.

Monday ~₹30cr / $4.3mn (218/$31.3mn)

Usually Tuesday shall drop but film started with late shows in many places due to election, so should be flat.

Wednesday will grow a bit or flat. Will cross Infinity War by Thursday.

Aren't you underestimating May Day collections? I reckon it'll grow big on that day.

Last year 1st May fell on Tuesday and Infinity War stayed flat from Monday. So I will not be surprised if it stays flat.

I was very bullish with my numbers and EG is simply mocking them.

Maybe Disney will think of doing a wider release of marvel movies in future?

It's not in their hands. There are max 3000 DCI Screens which can play movies like Endgame etc.
