Casualties of War HM: Full Metal Jacket: Really thought this film was great a long time ago, I just find it so hard to watch now, this movie seems to just drive me nutz. I've seen parts of Stalingrad and The Deer Hunter both have potential to be this list when I finish watching them, Stalingrad was great from what I remember. riczhang Posted May 30, 2014 Share Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) I would have to recommend Resnais's brilliant documentary, la nuit et brouillard (night and fog). It's a short film, but absolutely brilliant. It's not strictly speaking a war film, but it's on the holocaust and oh so good. And of course All Quiet, that's truly the greatest of all time.
